Man, that just shows you we can find the talent, but the pie challenge is hard to overcome.

They do say he has maybe the best work ethic on the team, so I'm not worried about him slacking. I do wonder if he'd be worth the money though. Obviously it depends how much he ends up getting.

Would love to know Eberflus' honest opinion on him. I hope the Joneses would listen to him, but who knows.

Teams like the eagles get guys to sign early.

I think if you're willing to give guys market value contracts you'll sometimes get guys early.

If you try to get guys on a discount it's unlikely they'll sign early unless they're frauds like jaylon Smith.

I think he's a good (not great) player and I'd love to have him back. But that's a lot of pie.

I know the argument is they won't use the cap savings anyway and that's true.

But the converse is also true; if they pay him that kind of money they'll use it as an excuse to tighten the check book even further.

It also seems nonsensical to spend 50 or more million dollars per year (including whatever Micah gets) on a line that has been as mediocre as this has been the past few years.

Ultimately no matter which path we go down we're probably screwed anyway, because they're going to make it about money either way and we won't improve enough to get over the hump.

Exactly it’s a catch 22…they would use the OSA contract as an example of trying to pacify the fan base . As a “ oh look we did something “ now leave us alone .

I am not convinced we missed a talent here.

Granted, he will go elsewhere and be at least a Gallimore+.
 
Osa finished 3rd in the league amongst DT's in QB hits, he basically had the same stats across the board as Jalen Carter, Gallimore should never be brought up in th same sentence.

They’ll have little choice as they’ll only have three DT’s on the roster once Osa leaves.

Dallas has shown that they reward late signings. I should have expanded on it in that post. He will have a couple of things going for him to get an easy paycheck. They drafted him and Parsons wants to resign him along with being vocal about FA.
 
Another outside the box idea instead of extending Osa would be trading a 2026 3rd or some such for DeForest Buckner. He still has probably 3ish top years left and I think he'd actually be cheaper than Osa once the Colts eat the guaranteed money after the trade.
 
Franchise tag for DT expected to be around 23.5 mil
 
Don't have to pay UDFAs that much
 
On another DT note, I hope we can keep Golston somehow. He played really well last year. Any guesses on what he'd get?
