Sounds like someone saw a ton of suckage on the field and it’s time to cut bait. Weird how that doesn’t apply to the RB room though.

I’m tired of the old retreads. I think the next time around they gotta take a flyer on a young assistant. I also think the younger coaches know how to communicate and motivate these younger NFL players more than we see with the retreads, especially at the HC position. Even Belichik wore out his welcome.

I'll try not to bring politics into this thread, but there is a reason why these younger athletes have a a different attitude and have to be handled differently.

Every generation reaches a certain age and cannot relate to the younger ones. It isn’t new. This has happened since forever.
 
Garrett was young and he couldn't relate to or motivate shit.

I don't think it matters as long as you're a good coach. Plenty of young guys wash out of coaching every hiring cycle but they don't get as much attention as the more established guys who already have a name.
 
I no longer think Parsons is a generational player. Too small for what he does and can be schemed out of games. Give me Mad Maxx or Tj watt any day.

Yep. Exactly.

There are a billion young up and coming coordinators that fail and completely wash out. But people focus on the 5 that work out and think that's what we need.

If we do wind up with a new coach in the offseason, give me a veteran with a track record of winning - like a Belichick - over a young unknown like a Slowick or Johnson any day.

Let's face it, we know how this works. We won't go with some young person unless they have direct ties to the team already. So you're looking at a veteran head coach hire almost certainly. We never go with a young hotshot unless it's a young hotshot on our current staff. And I don't see that happening. Al Harris is maybe the closest thing we have to a young up and coming assistant. But I don't see that as an option.

Like simp said, the Joneses already know Papa Kubiak. And Klint's brother is already a scout with the team.

That might be enough to make Jerry "comfortable" enough with it.

We did do it with Gailey, so it's not unprecedented that we'd go with an assistant outside the organization. I could see it.

Not my preference though.

The way Jerry yo-yos back and forth on things, I could see it. I think they wanted someone with winning experience partly because Garrett was a newb who couldn't do it.

I'm not opposed to a young guy necessarily, I'm just saying that being young doesn't automatically give you some advantage over an older guy. Who's considered the best NFL coach right now? Andy Reid. Who was the best college coach of the last 20+ years? Nick Saban.

I think the next coach will be whoever Jerry can sell as the one to take Dak to the next level, so I could see Kubiak or Ben Johnson.

I'm completely aboard the Bill Belichick train.

I get that he's older, but I don't think the guy has forgotten how to coach and I certainly don't believe that he has forgotten how to manage a football team and build a winning culture.

As I said before, the key for him is to bring in good assistants. If he does that then he has great chance to succeed in Dallas.

Plus, once Brady left he's had complete garbage at QB. I don't think we can judge him on that.
