Cowboys Trade Nahshon Wright to Minnesota for CB Andrew Booth

I imagine Booth will wash in fairly short order.

I hold no hope for Booth. I held no hope for Wright. I honestly don't care. Corner doesn't really worry me. I think Diggs and Bland are studs. I think Carson looks like a future steal. And Lewis is a really good savvy vet. At best Booth is your fifth corner? And even at that I look at Mukuamu and Scott as just fine for that role. I had no role for Wright anyway. And honestly I probably don't have one for Booth unless he really shocks.

It seems that for every Bland we draft , there are at least a Joseph and a Wright.

Don't get me wrong, this doesn't hurt anything, but I think they do stuff like this just so the headlines don't read "Cowboys cut third round pick."

This way they make a trade, then quietly cut the trade acquisition later. Result is the same, but it doesn't hurt their precious Great Drafting Reputation as much.

This happens all over the league. Get a “free” look at another player for one you know isn’t going to be on your roster at final cuts. I don’t see the problem here.

I went back and added the "Don't get me wrong, this doesn't hurt anything" just for you and you still got me. :sad

Booth was a way better prospect than Wright and is only two years removed from being drafted with Wright being 3, so I guess that's something. They both probably suck.

Yeah I mean one guy was a legit second pick. The other was a third who should have been a seventh. Ultimately they both look like busts at this point. My only wish is it would have been for a different position like Dline or RB but we may not have had a choice.

It's Jerry's version of an accounting trick. "They aren't busts if we get value for them!"

Right. "We weren't the only ones! Another team thought he had value, too!"

But, maybe you get lucky and the new guy has something, even though odds are he doesn't.

If somehow you salvage the value wasted in selecting Wright way too high, that's great. Is there any confidence that will happen? Not on my part.

I am way more comfortable with a dice roll than what we already know cannot play.

Sneaky Stephen.

There's nothing wrong with this trade. But let's not get carried away calling it sneaky good.

They traded a guy they were going to cut for a guy another team was going to cut.

Two teams taking a free flyer basically.
