I get it that but a good lineman is a good lineman.

The urge to fill rosters with position flex is understandable to an extent. If I have an elite guard versus a good tackle, I take the elite guy.
 


I am not saying he is Mac Jones 2.0, but the ambiguity of his draft ranking is about the same as his was at the same stage in the process.
 
I don't know why but I just don't like this guy.

That meditating under the goalposts bit was way too drama queen, for one thing.

The weird part is both Martin and Tyler would be elite tackles too. But we almost prefer the guard position.

This has always been my opinion. If you draft a guy to be your starting guard, who cares if he can play some tackle. Or vice versa frankly. Same thing with a center. Versatility is only a thing that really matters to me with a backup.

Case in point, Tyler was the best LT on the roster last year when Tyron was out. But we didn't want to mess around by moving him out to LT.

Eh I prefer to stay away from the Michigan DTs after Mazi. Especially another slow to react to the snap guy.

I'm not even a huge fan but I'd prefer the Clemson kid. Jaylon Wright is a fun player but I think we need more of a thick back. Doesn't have to be 245 pounds but at least a guy who plays with a little more power and less finesse.

Fautanu would be a great first though. I think he is a great gaurd/tackle type that we love. If he falls to us (don't think he will) I'm all over it.
 


I would bet at least two of these guys end up as Cowboys.
 


Give me Fautanu over all of those other guys. The only one close is Thomas.

Yea I'd take Fautanu and Thomas is the only one who would make me think twice, but ultimately I think it's close enough that the bigger need would win out.

Now if it came down to Brian Thomas vs. Graham Barton or Tyler Guyton?

I'd go Thomas although ideally I'd trade down and take one of the OL so that we aren't trotting out both Bass and Hoffman as starters next year.

I agree with all this. Fautanu had a great arm length measurement too. He is your starting LT or LG for a long time.

I've noticed the Alabama OT is getting a ton of love as a top 10-15 pick. So someone else may fall. If this happens I tell Bass to concentrate on center full time.

One of the biggest questions I have is to what extent do the coaches think Bass can play center?

I wouldn't be shocked if they believed Hoffman could be passable at center so it'll be really hard to tell even if we don't take a center in the draft at all.

And, I agree. Totally unrealistic, but a great draft, nonetheless.
