Prospects Dallas Has Shown Interest In - 2024

Good to see there is some interest in Allen.

Just normal in my opinion, the RBs/WRs just came in, so you'll see a bunch of those pop up. I love the WR list. I think Worthy gets criminally underrated and for such a big man Mitchell can actually run some impressive routes.

The guy I'm not so confident in is Coleman. He does remind me a little of Plaxico Burress. But he doesn't really separate. Great with the ball in his hands (Had some kick returns which he was stellar on) and can win a ton of 50/50 balls. They really are more like 70/30 balls. But his routes are meh to me. He just relies too heavily on, I'm bigger than you, I'll catch the ball even if you're right next to me.

Which would also mean that he'd never see a ball thrown his way because Dak can't complete throws like that.

I mean he kind of used to with Gallup. But that was preinjury. Gallup was never a separation guy. He was a big play and make the crazy catch guy. But I agree, other than slants and just those Gallup type plays, Coleman would almost have to be your smoke screen, and reverse guy. Which Lamb does very well too. I know that's odd to say for a 6'5" WR but he can run after the catch at a high level.

In the end, Coleman is not really my guy. In the second absolutely, but not in the first. More of a complimentary guy to me.

I do appreciate the looking at bigger RBs like Estime, Benson, Davis and Allen. These aren't your 200 pound scat backs.
If we're serious about running the ball effectively and regularly, 200 Lb scat backs like Pollard won't get it done without a workhorse back leading the way. Allen is the toughest of the group, but I have concerns about his speed. He's not quick to the LOS, so my only real concern with him is that he may get tackled in the backfield a lot if he's not quick off the snap. Benson is much quicker in that respect, but he's also close to 20 pounds lighter.

A rookie back in the 215-220 range is a big back to me. You don't have to be 250 pounds to be an NFL power back. We can all agree that Zeke was a really good power back at the beginning of his career. He was 225 pounds. Benson came in at 223. Estime 227. Davis 220 (But only 5'8" so boy is thick), Allen 245.

All of those guys fit the mold to me. Doesn't have to be freaky big.

If they re-sign Pollard it'd be very difficult for me to be happy with someone like Wright in the draft, we'd need to pair someone like Estime or Allen with Pollard. On the flip side, if we somehow go after a Josh Jacobs or Henry someone like Wright would make perfect sense.

It'll be interesting to see what sort of pairing they put together there.

Yeah, I'm ok with two thumpers. I can work around that. You can put Ceedee in the backfield or whatever. And some big RBs can catch the ball well too. My concern would absolutely be having two Pollard types. I like Wright, I've really come around on him. But he isn't a physical runner. He is a make you miss, speed to burn, fun guy to watch and use. But it means signing someone other than Pollard in free agency in my opinion.
