Yep. I don't actually think it's worth just cutting him.

Yeah, I just don't see the point in keeping him around for one more year. I guess if you think he can win the Superbowl before bolting you do it. But truth is, if you don't redo the deal now, you can't franchise him. He is gone after next season. So I guess the question is, do you think he can win a Superbowl? If the answer is yes, you probably should extend him. If the answer is no? Why continue down the same path as the last 3 seasons? Of course, you can't say that if you're trying to trade him (Why you get a fifth for Amari Cooper) but someone out there would probably trade some legit assets. Maybe the Redskins would cough up a top pick.

The issue to me is getting nothing for him. If you sit on him for a year you'll get a likely 3rd round comp pick when he signs elsewhere. I'd rather do that than get nothing.

But I'd guess you'd get multiple firsts from someone in a trade, if you make it clear he won't be cut under any circumstances.

Ah, academic discussions...

We all know Dak is nearing Family Portrait levels of Jerry Love, so he isn't going anywhere.

I'd bet @Cotton 's av on it.

Since 2011, the 49ers have made the playoffs seven times, reaching at least the NFCC every time.

:lol There is literally no one in sports media willing to say that Justin Fields just may be, just MAYBE, might be a bad QB.

I wonder why? Hmmmmnnnn

I won't even say bad. He is mediocre. Do you want to be stuck with mediocre when you have a shot at a QB who could be great. Not commenting on the specific QBs in this class but shit there are 3 that will go top 10. All three are probably better prospects. And honestly you have had Fields for 3 years. You should know what he is by now. If you're not ready to get married, you should probably take a guy while you have a chance.
