Get rid of him?

I mean he just finished 2nd in MVP voting and the NFC is generally weak, it may be a fool's errand but logically we should be one of the top 2-3 teams in the conference next year.

It's hard to walk away from that potential, although if McCarthy is sitting there at 24 I might do it.

I know it’s been said before but I will reiterate….. this is a direct consequence ( not in a bad way ) of us drafting really really well and not getting the job ( Super Bowl ) done . Eventually these guys will come out of their rookie contracts and desire a substantial pay increase ..these are the issues in front of us … it’s like renting the tools from Home Depot , not doing the job and returning the tools ..Unfortunately this organization has wasted countless amounts of premium talent on deadbeat suck ass coaches ….

I would have preferred Al Harris. It always seems other teams discover young new coaching talent while we just run back the same dudes.

I think Al Harris knows corners really well. If he knows how to run an entire defense I wouldn't have been opposed. But some guys are great at a craft but not great at the bigger picture. My understanding is Harris has had a pretty specialized role here working with the corners. I'm just not sure if it was a promotion he is ready for.

He might but I don't see the evidence for it. Whitt was clearly the right hand man and the guy we should have tried for if we wanted to promote from within.

Exactly, Whitt was essentially the secondary coach. And I think Quinn had him working side by side as sort of training for a future as a defensive coordinator.

Probably because we're worried that this generation of player isn't going to respond to some social security eligible grouch.

They only seem to respond to old fat guys who like cheeseburgers.
