Do they? We just happen to draft a lot of DEs. Fourth round last year, second round in 2022, third round 2021. All 3 of which we are basically saying aren't good enough that DE is a top priority. Actually going back through our drafts, I think we draft a DE every single year. Many of which are fourth round or higher picks. Sure Armstrong has worked out. But how about Taco, Joe Jackson (Ok he was fifth round), Bradlee Anae (Fifth round again), Golston (third), Sam Williams (second) and Fehoko (fourth).

Personally I like Sam Williams, but I'm not sure that anyone else views him that highly.

Maybe it's the volume of DEs we draft, as you pointed. More of them seem to stick and contribute than the interior guys.

The Golston & Osa draft was a homerun by Cowboys standards.

I don't think DE's have to be all that bright. But yeah, I've said in the past I like him, but I'll probably be the first one to cuss out loud that he should be cut when he gets a 15 yard penalty for something stupid.

I can't trust him. I'm afraid of him getting near the qb.

Did he get regular time at DE? Seemed like his snaps went down?

He managed third most sacks on the team. He looks like he has gotten bigger too.

They did. He drew every stupid penalty he could on his limited reps as a rusher. So then he started losing more and more as the mistakes compounded.

In fact, they tried to market him as some sort of cheap fuck Hollywood Henderson freak linebacker playing special teams until he started running into returners.

Hollywood might have snorted coke right on the field, he was not stupid.

Williams has already proved he is just that fucking guy that will never get smart. Can't fix stupid.

That is the tragic part of it. This is part of what we use to build the reputation for being successful in the draft.

And let's be just brutally honest. Golston is a lifer type that hangs around the locker room and could just quietly make a roster long enough to hit pension. Odighizuwa is okay, but I am not seeing this star in the making thing that was the push last year.

We "draft well" because we keep a strong hierarchy for slotting where our draft picks occupy valuable spots on the final roster for their first contract. They stick around for two to three years because we don't change what we do.

There is no HC change. There is no GM ever. We are following the Steelers model in one way. The Raiders moreso if you really think about it.

Wouldn't read too much in those sacks. Just half a sack after Thanksgiving. 3 in the games we were routing teams where they had to pass every down.

What does that say about everyone else who was playing? But I think he is being undersold. Ultimately Quinn obviously only likes him enough to play him on like 28% of the snaps. Which was actually up from his rookie season despite what Booze says. He did play more snaps, he showed more. But ultimately Quinn preferred Lawrence and Armstrong.
