Agreed.

I have a lot of confidence in this staff and I do feel like this team could be different, but I'm not assuming anything until they prove it.
Hey bro, what's your personal barometer for success? NFC Championship game appearance? Super Bowl appearance? Just curious. I bet yours and mine are similar.

But, it's the bar we should hold, right? Or has it been so long that we have forgotten what our standards used to be?
I dont expect rings, but I do expect to contend for rings. Long as it’s been, it’s still a mountain to climb. And the McCarthy era has proven to be a magnitude of improvement over you-know-fucking-who. So, my confidence is high, cause that whole stank is gone. I think this team will beat those teams it is expected to beat, ala the Cards.

For me it's NFCC or bust.

Just because we lose in the divisional round doesn't mean that we've choked.

I believe we choked in 2007 and 2016.

But I think we simply lost to the better team in 2009 and 2018, for example.

2014 and 2022 were similar in that they were very disappointing losses because I felt like we were the better team in those games, but we just left too many plays out on the field in 2014 and Dak let us down in 2022.

With all of that being said, we HAVE to get past the divisional round this year for me to consider this season a success.

Somehow someway, we've got get to the NFCC, for once.

I agree with most of that and I've been singing McCarthy's praises for 2 years now.

But we still lost to Green Bay and Jacksonville last year, right?

We've got to put those sorts of losses behind us before I can feel confident in us not potentially laying an egg.

I agree that there is reason for hope. But, how much disappointment do we have to endure before our asses stop puckering up heading into a game?
I feel like the disappointment factor is about to subside . This team is good, real good.

Don’t get me wrong. Even the Jimmah teams laid the occasional egg. It happens, but I think 40-0 was a statement.

I had confidence in the early 90s. I expected to win games. I haven't felt that in a long damn time.

While I get this thinking, teams sometimes lose to teams they shouldn't. Not just the Cowboys.

:lol

Two things are a certainty with Simp:

1. He's always confident in the Cowboys

2. He always downplays our divisional rivals' potential

That's not true, I'm confident when there's reason to be confident, and coming off back to back double digit win seasons with the most continuity on the roster and coaching staff in the NFC is the time to be confident.

I'm more realistic than anything, I knew the Eagles were really good last year but it was largely due to a set of circumstances that aren't sustainable, therefore they're likely to regress.

Yea, good teams lay eggs every year more or less.

The god damn Chiefs lost to the Colts last year, went to OT against the Texans and narrowly beat the Broncos both times they played. Those were three of the worst 7-8 teams in the league last year.
