2023 Injuries Thread…

Grass gives more than the turf though, it's anybody's guess as to whether or not Rodgers would've gotten hurt on grass but I think it's pretty undeniable that grass is easier on the body than turf and the league only prefers turf because it saves money and provides a more uniform playing surface.

But let's be honest, these assholes make more than enough money in the first place and could easily afford the cost of ensuring that the grass surfaces were more or less pristine.

But like almost everything else the NFL does I'm sure they'd half ass it for one reason or another, just like they did the surface for last year's Super Bowl.

Yeah, I'm with Geng in that Rodgers' particular injury probably wasn't a turf-grass issue, but artificial turf stull absolutely sucks. Hate the stuff. IMO no outdoor stadium should have it.

The Giants and Bears both went from artificial turf to grass, but the Giants went back to artificial turf after only 3 seasons (2000-2002). The Bears went to grass I believe in 1987 or 88 and wisely stuck with it, even though players like Urlacher wierdly wanted them to switch to Field Turf.

What about the fans who have to watch the Jets up our asses on national TV the rest of the year?

Please elaborate, citizen.

Nonsense.

It's ridiculous.

Just last season a guy's heart stopped.

It was so disturbing that the game was called.

That was 100000000X more devastating than what happened last night.

I'm not even sure this injury is worse than when the same thing happened to Testaverde in 99 because that team also had high hopes and unlike this particular Jets team, that one had already proven that they were a Super Bowl contender as they were coming off a loss in the AFCC.

The media has always sensationalized shit, but it's worse than ever in this day and age.

They’re scheduled for something like 4-5 more prime time games.

But those games can be flexed at any point now, right?

They don't have to be late season games to be flexed anymore IIRC.

Exactly right.

Hell, I'm not sure it's more devastating than Romo in 2015, just to pick another example off the top of my head.

Rodgers on the Jets was always more hype than substance.

Exactly.

He's 39 years old, FFS.

Could he have been good? Sure.

But he also could have looked like a 39 year old QB too.

And here's the thing that all these pundits hyping that move up were conveniently forgetting..... Rodgers hadn't been able to win THE big game for Green Bay since 2010 when they won the SB.

It's funny how they all forgot the narrative surrounding him that he wasn't winning the big game during the latter half of his career.

So yeah, all of that was speculation and I always thought the Jets' prospects for the season were overblown.

I don’t know. Did they change the rules? It used to be games couldn’t be flexed until late November/ early December. I don’t remember hearing they changed that.

Yeah, I thought they changed it but I could be wrong.

I would think they would have to give at least a decent amount of time to do it. Just think how pissed you’d be if say you’d made travel plans to see a game and they changed it last minute where you couldn’t alter your plans.
