Lamb has improved quite a bit since then, and is a more dynamic #1 than Cooper, imo. At the very least, I think which group was better overall would be debatable.

I think Lamb has a chance to be a really dynamic player. If so, then that would make this group better if in fact MG can return to his pre-injury form.

I think they could be since Lamb was just a rookie in 2020, and in 2021 Gallup missed more than half the season.

Of course Dak also missed basically all of 2020 so taking all that into account, this could be the most dangerous passing attack we've had in a long while.

Lamb has gotten a lot better that's true. I think it hinges more on Cooks being better than Cooper though, and I just don't believe that. We'll see though.

I also don't believe in Gallup anymore (although I do understand that Simp's original premise was predicated on Gallup being close to his former self).

The change at OC is also key.

I think Cooks has a gear that Cooper doesn’t, Cooper might be a better route runner.

I don't think it hinges on Cooks being better than Cooper, it hinges on him being better than 2020/21 Gallup or rookie/second year Lamb, which I think is pretty likely.

Lamb is already more or less as good as Cooper was then, which leaves rookie Lamb and 2020/21 Gallup vs. Cooks and Gallup now.

Lamb and Cooper are both really good, but they are different players. CeeDee is a more aggressive receiver who is especially good attacking underneath. Cooper has more of the Air Coryell vertical threat aspect. CeeDee looks to be a better fit for the attack-oriented scheme that McCarthy wants to accomplish. The change at OC should help CeeDee.

I'd honestly let Diggs walk if the price isn't right for a CB that doesn't want to tackle in tackle football and doesn't provide a D Sanders level of coverage.
Right. Plus, the NFL has become more of a front seven league these days. Revis Island isn't a thing anymore. Although you might like to have top CBs, those second contract dollars might be better allocated elsewhere.

I mean I think if you're holding out for D Sanders level of coverage before you pay a corner then you're really saying you'd never pay a corner.

With that being said the contract has to be palatable. You can't just hand him any number. Parsons for example is far more crucial to the defense. But certainly you can afford 2 stars on defense. You just have to start considering contracts of guys like Dlaw.

No, I'm saying that if I'm going to pay a CB that doesn't tackle then he has to provide D Sanders level coverage.

The Diggs contract should be simple, somewhere around 18-20/year with whatever standard amount guaranteed.

If he's asking for everything guaranteed he can fuck off and trade him, if they're trying to get him to sign something ridiculous like 16/year then Stephen is being obtuse and unrealistic yet again.

I mean he tackles. Not a great tackler. And there are obviously a couple examples of him bitching out on a chance to hit a guy when the ball is in the air. But It's a spectrum. This isn't bianary like gender... He tackles better than Deion for example did.

Playoff loss to SF comes to mind.
