I don't think culture is much of a problem anymore. Maybe it rears its head occasionally enough to make a difference, like Jerry insisting Kellen remain OC and call plays, or paying Zeke way too much, but it's not a major problem.

The problem is our QB is good but not elite, and that means everything else has to go right to get over the hump. But plenty of other teams are in that same boat. With the conference weak right now, it's at least possible.

Who would you put in the elite category, because I only see one at the moment.

Probably Mahomes, Allen, maybe Rodgers still. Of course Brady and a couple others for most of Dak's career.

I love Josh Allen, but I wouldn't call him elite. Rodgers isn't anymore. And Brady doesn't count anymore. That leaves Mahomes.

That's fair, it depends on how you define elite. Mahomes is definitely the only one at a historically elite level right now.

And edit, I should have put Burrow in there before. I knew I was forgetting someone.

Only the Cowboys or TT can win a title this year. Who do you pick?

Yeah, we are definitely in a state of transition for sure. Mahomes is one of the best ever, then a large gap.

I'd absolutely call Burrow elite. He just has that knack to carry his team past its weaknesses. He has great WR's, but clearly overcomes a below average OL with his toughness and accuracy.

Josh Allen took a step sideways last year, and you wonder if AP COY Daboll was his muse. Allen has every weapon a great QB needs including a strong defense. He needs to stop running so much. Honestly if anyone could use a better running game it's Allen.

Lamar Jackson wins without any WRs I'd want on my team and overcomes his teams weaknesses more often than not, but without a true receiving threat his talent is wasted and he'll eventually wear down. This guy is super clutch when it matters. I just hope they finally get him the WR he needs. Ridiculous that they haven't.

I can't ever count Aaron Rodgers out of the elite until I see him truly physically and mentally unable to elevate his team, like Brady in 2022. Rodgers led his otherwise above average team to three consecutive 13 win seasons over 2019-2021. Unlike Brady, I still feel like if you get Rodgers an elite WR he will win, and losing Davante Adams really hurt him.

Trevor Lawrence turned a corner for sure, and if he gets an elite WR will IMO become one of the game's elite players.

Herbert is a physical monster, but has yet to consistently overcome his team's weaknesses to take them further. He's poised to do that with a better supporting cast.

If Deshaun Watson comes back to form, he's in this group. He still needs an elite WR, and Amari Cooper is not elite though maybe the best use of a 5th round pick in a long time. Big asterisk though.

I'd put Dak behind these guys when they are on their game. He's part of a group behind a healthy Matthew Stafford and ahead of Jalen Hurts, David Carr, Geno Smith, Kirk Cousins, and Tua that can perform well in any single game and overall are average to above average.

Mahomes, and Burrow are probably the top two right now. Allen isn’t terribly far behind. Then Herbert, Lawrence, and Prescott. Neither of those three have really proven much. I’m leaving hurts and Lamar out of the conversation for the moment.

Moore's pass scheme resulted in relatively little separation and an abnormally high number of "miscommunications" between WRs and the QB. Moore's system typically wasn't strong in stretching the field. Conventional screen passes weren't so hot either.

Of the QBs considered to be superior or roughly equal to Dak, which ones played for a less adept OC?

Texas Tech. As much as we bag on the Cowboys they are closer to winning it all. The achievement of winning a title at Texas Tech is extremely difficult. Almost impossible I would say.

Yeah you can blindly probably just list the big college teams and guarantee one of them will win it.

I like the idea of a 12 team playoff system and how it introduces the possibility of upsets. Making the playoffs would be a huge accomplishment for many college programs.
