Yes. Not far behind, but yeah. Obviously I wasn't alive to watch White play live in the 80s, but since he lead Dallas to three straight NFCCG and QB'd an offense that ranked 1st, 5th and 6th in points per game those three years, I'd have him just ahead of Tony, which to be fair, Romo was saddled with Garrett whereas White benefitted from having coach Landry.

Romo would get close to a great offense but never had the other two, so any ranking of Romo higher than White is based off projections.

I can tell you, White wasn’t as good a passer as Romo. He had a few good passes a game where you’d be like “Where TF was that all game?” And his arm went noodle somewhere in 1983, so we’re talking four years of production inheriting a Super Bowl winner/contender.

Most blamed White for coming up lame in the NFC Championship game, and I agree he flat sucked in each of them.

I was a kid at the time, but White scared me.

He broke some of Roger's records in his first year. I can still remember the Sporting News caption under his photo: More than a punter now. When he wrested the starting job back from "Hogenbloom" in '84, he was allowed to keep it for another four years. That was a major mistake.
