Something tells me they're going to extend him before Sunday, you have Hill throwing out his bullshit, but you also have Jerry blabbering about it in that Smith interview combined with Dak making jokes about being able to add a bubble to his practice field with a new contract.

It was always the most likely scenario but I thought they might be just fed up enough to make him squirm during the season.

At any rate, I'm guessing it'll be 5/290 with 225 guaranteed.

Sounds like there is some sliding of napkins across the table going on.

Wouldn't be surprised to see a new deal done any day now. But I also wouldn't be shocked if we don't see anything until right before free agency next year.

It's just a matter of time, whether it's tomorrow, three weeks from now or three months from now.

Dak literally said yesterday that it meant more to him to win here than anywhere else, he wouldn't have said that if he knew it wasn't a matter of time.

Yeah sounds like the sides are done posturing. Dak with his BS about playing anywhere. Jerry with his "if you haven't seen it by now, you haven't seen it" comments. I agree that when the posturing stops it means that things are close. Basically they don't want to screw it up at the last minute.

But truth be told it's not going to excite me or upset me. It's just what I expect and it happens and I'll worry about what the team does next. I like Dak and think he is a good QB. I also get the concept that we would be better off shipping him away for 2 or 3 first round picks and starting fresh with a young QB and a team that knows how to draft well.

The only thing I've never been ok with is letting an asset worth first round picks walk out the door for a third round comp pick. Again, that's the QB equivalent of letting Amari walk out the door for a fifth round pick. You don't give up valuable assets for nothing.

Yea, I'm kind of indifferent, I don't mind bringing him back but it's contingent on how serious they'll be about going after his replacement.

It doesn't have to be in 2025 but as long as the circumstances permit with how the draft falls I'd want his successor on the roster by 2026 or 2027, unless he somehow gets us to the NFCC or further in the next year or two.

Make him sweat a bit and have to stare down his own NFL mortality after being an asshole and pushing for what I assume will be nearly 60/year.

They better not give him another no-trade clause, because I think both Jerry and Dak underestimate how many fans are ready to move on.

I guess everyone has forgotten that Dallas had one the best success runs ever when they went to the draft for a guy who subsequently took them to 3 Super Bowls. To me that needs to happen again and quit paying a guy the bankroll of the franchise to deliver maybe next year results. Who cares if Prescott goes on down the road. He has left nothing with this franchise but the embarrassment of getting paid to be the best without the responsibility of delivering the goods.

Yeah, he's certainly no Kyler Murray.

My thing on that is, didn't LT think Romo was the best QB in franchise history? Why didn't he judge Romo on delivering in the playoffs?
