Also, playing as Colorado is a lot of fun.

Shadeur Sanders is really good in this game and Travis Hunter is unreal on both sides of the ball.

But I love the realism in this game. As amazing as he is as a CB, he has gotten beat for a TD in the few times I've played with Colorado.

I hope the NCAA team keeps their focus on the things that matter as they used to do back in the day. If they do that and don't get sidetracked by EA trying to make that game another Madden, we could have ourselves a game that will belong in the sports video game HOF next year.
The NCAA team is about to run into the same problem as the Madden team. They have to release a game every fuckin year. There is no time for real improvement.

I'll be real honest, I think my wife is jealous of me playing NCAA Football. It's not even that I'm ignoring her to play the game. I think she is just jealous that I have something I really enjoy doing and was really looking forward to and she doesn't have that. And yet it's still worth it to me.
That's because women don't have hobbies!

They hate ANYTHING that attracts our attention and it bothers them that we can find pleasure the way that we do in other interests.

It's strange, but true -- most women don't have hobbies so it's hard for them to comprehend how and why we can find something that can distract us from them for extended amounts of time.

This 100% true in my marriage.

Here are some updates coming to the game:

I'm glad to see they're adding more uniforms. I was just complaining about that the other day.

OU only has 1 alternate uniform but somehow Memphis has 17 alternates. Also, some squads like San Diego State don't have any alternates.

I just beat the shit out of Oregon last night in the Big 10 Championship (that still feels weird). But a week ago I would have struggled. I think it takes awhile to really get comfortable with the playbooks and plays. Especially passing the ball. Timing and reading what the defense is doing takes some practice.

I appreciate the challenge though. I feel like they notched up the difficulty some. Or I'm just that rusty. Blowing everyone out 70-0 can get boring really fast. And as many sacks as I get, I still struggle at times on defense to stop the pass.

Same here.

I used to only be able to get challenges on All-Madden/Heisman, so to be able to actually get fun and competitive games on All-American is a welcomed change.

I also have to say I'm still learning the ropes of recruiting. I've messed my first class up pretty bad. I think I'm like ranked 37th nationally for recruiting. I'm getting better at it certainly feels like a more complex system that takes some getting the hang of. I got some good players but I also totally flopped on getting enough players. I have like a 5 star receiver but outside of that it's just a handful of four stars. Used to be as long as you were winning games recruits would sign with you. But I'm finding that winning alone won't get you there. Just because I win and Ohio State loses doesn't mean I'm going to jump ahead of them on a players board. I probably should have been more targeted in my recruiting.

Which also feels realistic. Just because Iowa has a really good season doesn't mean they suddenly are beating the Alabama's for recruits. It takes more sustained success to get there.

I've been through a second offseason of recruiting and I've landed a top 10 class both times (though never a top-5 class, I've been 6 both times I think).

My lessons so far:

Recruit guys who are in your 5-rated pipeline almost exclusively (the purple tag indicator). I'm playing as UNC, which is a 4-star program, so I'm not playing as Temple, but I'm not playing as Ohio State, Alabama, or Clemson either. With UNC having a heavy recruiting footprint in NC, VA, and Maryland, and I think I chose my coach's pipeline as "Tidewater," (coastal Virginia area), I get the purple 5-level pipeline indicator from those areas - NC, VA, and Maryland. The higher your pipeline rating with a prospect, you get amplified results with your pitches, apparently. I usually will comb through my "Recommended," list, and then I go position-by-position sorting by overall recruit ranking, and I can usually find 20+ recruits who are level-5 pipeline that are interested in me. Those are the ones you focus on. I usually pick very few recruits to target who aren't in the top 200-250, and this still yields plenty of guys. Then sometimes I will add 4-6 guys who are lower ranked than that, if they are positions of need that I haven't otherwise targeted, usually in the 300s, 400s, and 500s.

Then, as the season progresses, I go back to the prospect list and I find high-ranking four star recruits who are being under-recruited, and I hit them hard.

I find I am landing about 60% of my targets this way, so if I end up with a list of 30-35, I will land 20-22 guys ultimately. I also usually sprinkle in 1-2 high end 5 star players who have zero interest in me and try to work 'em over, but so far, I haven't landed one of those types. I got two 5-stars who WERE in my level-5 pipeline (rated 9th overall and 16th overall), but I never managed to land a 5 star that didn't start out with high-interest. I chased the #3 overall player, an OT, my first year and I ended up leading with him all the way to the final week when Oklahoma swooped in and stole him, and then the same with the #1 overall player, a WR, my second year, I led all the way up to the end and Ol Miss jumped ahead of me the week he committed.

My coach prototype is also "Recruiter," and I've maxed out the entry-level categories for that prototype, so every position group is easier for me to recruit too.

New update is out today and one of the things they've fixed is the roughing the kicker frequency.

Now I can turn that penalty back on :lol

Thank god, it's the one penalty that has driven me nuts. Do everything right, get the stop and suddenly some dumbass bumps the kicker and it's an automatic first down. I literally had started to control guys and just run away from the kick for fear of getting the penalty without doing anything intentionally. Figure it's not even worth trying for the rare block of a kick.

And I've had it benefit me too. Go to punt, put on minimum protection (Max coverage) and inevitably your punter gets hit after the punt.

Well, that's why I turned it off.

The CPU did it to me a lot too. So I turned it off and left running into the kicker on, but that penalty is NEVER called.

So now that this update came out I'll turn it back on and see how often it's called now.

I do like that it's in the game just as I'm pleased to see how many different penalties are called that never used to get called before.

Gameplay-wise, they've done a fantastic job with this game.
