There are parts that are super fun. The hacking mixed with gunplay is awesome. I never got into the sword and melee stuff, but the way you can arc bullets around obstacles, or punch through walls, etc, it's all super cool and the graphics of it are great (explosions, sound recording of weapons, etc).

But the open world and side stuff were far too generic.
What I do appreciate is that they make you feel connected with the other characters. Like you just get a text that says, hey how's it going. Or a picture from an Asain guy taking a selfie who doesn't know how to use his phone. Sometimes you'll get a call to check in. The game play is definitely a blast. I'm not into sneaking but I can almost always go in snipping and then guns blazing if I want. You get into dark stuff like child molesters and all kinds of stuff. It's fun. But I also am finding myself tooling around right now because I can't bring myself to go past the "point of no return"

Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion is about to be shadow dropped, a pretty thorough remake, apparently, with changes to gameplay systems.

We'll see how deep it goes. The graphics aged poorly but so did a lot of the game systems, let's see if they can make it relevant in 2025.

I've been seeing about this. So Skyrim was really the only Elder Scrolls game I played. I love it. I've never played Oblivion for the very reason you mentioned above. It's just hard to get into and excited about a game that's graphics are that far behind. But I may try it now. I've almost finished up Cyberpunk and I'll be ready for my next game. Rumors are it will be available on PS5 which is what I'd want. I have a gaming PC but my PS5 in my theater room is really where it's at for gaming.

It has its flaws but it is well worth playing, particularly if they update not just the graphics but the gameplay and UI.

I've read that there will be tweeks to the game play. But I guess no one really knows until there is an official announcement. I'll play though.

Anyone try the new Oblivion yet? I will soon but I'm a one track guy and I'm not done with Cyberpunk yet.

I tried it. Not sure it’s really worth it if you played it before. The graphics are better but it still handles like the 2007 game that it is.

Yeah. For me it's nice for the nostalgia aspect while looking and feeling modern enough to keep my interest. I think it's worth playing since you haven't before.

One thing I'll say about oblivion over Skyrim is that I like oblivion's leveling system better. I know people try to cheese it but that's fine, you don't have to if you don't want to. But it feels more like a proper RPG to me. Morrowind was like that too.

And, I always liked that there are places where it's really difficult to go early on, certain quests that are better off leaving to later when you get stronger. It feels like a more dynamic and real world than in Skyrim with the leveling the way it is.

Can't wait.

Also, that's Dana Snyder I hear, the voice of Master Shake. Awesome because that dude needs to have more of a public awareness of his work, he's hilarious.
