Dukes asked a very stupid question trying to get Romo to roll Austin under the bus.

Funny, they asked him about Austin and Bryant, Romo just gave stonefaced responses...asked him about his BFF and he lit up, giggling like a schoolgirl. No wonder T.O. and Crayton were jealous.

I wish they would throw Jamie Dukes out of the FSU HOF just for that horrendous caption this segment they do on NFLN.

The players really emulate the Coach. Very humble not committing to big bold predictions, stacking good practices.

Eisen just asked Romo a legit question...what guy have we not been talking about that we need to?

Romo Riverdanced like a MFer and didn't answer the question. Weak.
It's not his place to answer questions about personnel.

I don't think anyone has said it in that same way. We definitely need better offensive linemen. We definitely could be calling better running plays.

Regardless, it is a dumb thing for the owner/GM to say. Basically just threw Garrett under the bus and that is counterproductive.
Throwing the coach under the bus while deflecting your own faults of not filling the biggest weakness on this team.

It's barely 3 days or so into camp so there's time for him to get going.

In a perfect world, he becomes a very good #3 ala Crayton and Williams develops into a #2 and Miles and his exploding hamstrings isn't a Cowboy in 2014.

Back to Harris, I get the feeling he's gonna be one of those game day guys who aren't great on practice like an Anthony Henry.
According to this, you only save about $400K by cutting Miles next year. I guess you could declare a June 1 cut and save like $4 million, but then you'd have $4 million in dead money in 2015. If that's the case, I wouldn't be surprised to see him stick one more year after this one.

George Selvie makes postive impression
July, 24, 2013

By Todd Archer | ESPNDallas.com

OXNARD, Calif. – At 3 a.m. PT, George Selvie was boarding a plane in Pensacola, Fla. By 4 p.m. PT, he was in a Cowboys jersey ready for practice.

“I landed, got a physical, signed a contract and was ready to work,” Selvie said. “I’ve been sitting too long, so it’s time to get at it.”

The Cowboys signed Selvie because of injuries to defensive linemen Anthony Spencer, Tyrone Crawford and Ike Igbinosun. He was cut by Tampa Bay in May and waiting for a call ever since. He had 10 tackles and a sack in nine games for Jacksonville last year.

How long he stays will depend on how well he plays. Spencer is out 2-4 weeks with upcoming knee surgery and Crawford is out for the year. Igbinosun hurt his ankle and is in a boot.

He was in on a number of plays, despite only knowing the rudimentary basics of the defense.

“I’ve been playing a 4-3,” Selvie said. “I played in a similar defensive line that’s coach Rod (Marinelli’s) style.”

Nothing for fans not so much for "media" guys. I guess you can excuse them because Jerrah signs their checks but it annoys me.

Play of Day: Brandon Carr's pick

July, 24, 2013

By Todd Archer | ESPNDallas.com

OXNARD, Calif. – Dez Bryant has been the story of training camp so far, but Brandon Carrmade sure he wasn’t the story on Wednesday.

In final-minute situation, Carr made a leaping interception of a Tony Romo throw to Bryant in the end zone, to end the offense’s drive. Carr ran stride for stride with Bryant and was able to shield the receiver away from the ball before getting his feet down in the end zone.

Trailing by 2 points and already in field goal range, there is some question as to why Romo would make a throw like that in that situation or why Bill Callahan would call a pass play with the clock running down. On the play before Carr’s interception, Romo intentionally threw the ball away and lived another day.

Cowboys practice report: Day 4

July, 24, 2013

By Calvin Watkins | ESPNDallas.com

OXNARD, Calif _ The Cowboys' fourth day of practice had the team work on the two-minute offense, shotgun formations and the hurry up. There were no new injuries from the full padded practice.

*The two newest players had an instant impact. Defensive end George Selvie had numerous pressures and one sack on his first day on the job. Landon Cohen, the defensive tackle, was also impressive with his pressure on the quarterback. Cohen also knocked down a pass. The Cowboys weren't looking for an expensive veteran player such as John Abraham. Instead, the Cowboys were looking for younger players who could create competition along the defensive line.

*Defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin isn't afraid to make changes to the defense when he sees something he doesn't like. Kiffin benched defensive end Ben Bass for a mistake forCameron Sheffield. A few plays later, Bass returned with the first team and didn't get benched again.

*Wednesday was wide receiver Cole Beasley's best day of camp. His two best plays came on a quick slant where he sliced through the defense untouched for about 15 yards. In a one-on-one drill, Beasley made a diving catch near the sidelines. Beasley has terrific speed and displays an ability to find open spots in a defense to become an open target.

*The Cowboys' wide receivers took a big lead in their battle with the defensive backs. Things changed on Wednesday during the one-on-one period. The receivers didn't make a catch on the first four pass attempts until Beasley made a diving catch near the sidelines.Brandon Carr and Morris Claiborne are playing Miles Austin and Dez Bryant tightly in man coverage. It takes a perfect throw sometimes to complete a pass but other times you see where the corner will hold the receiver to slow things down.

*When veterans make a mistake coach Jason Garrett penalizes them. Tight end Jason Witten has some of the best hands on the team but he dropped a low throw from Tony Romo and Garrett sat the veteran tight end. It was the only drop of the day from one of the Cowboys' best players.

*Defensive end Monte Taylor, who was impressing the coaches, was kicked out of a field goal unit because he was the 12th man. Details.

*With Jermey Parnell out with a mild hamstring strain, the Cowboys mix and match a little bit at tackle. When Tyron Smith missed a few snaps with a helmet issues, Darrion Weemschecked in at left tackle. For the plays he was in, he held DeMarcus Ware pretty good.

*The longer wide receiver Danny Coale sits, he's got swelling in the left knee, the more he gets behind. Eric Rogers and Jared Green were impressive during one-on-ones and in team drills.

*Cornerback Orlando Scandrick knocked a Romo pass down on a corner blitz. Scandrick is good at anticipating the snap count and timing his jump to make these kinds of plays.

*Wednesday's practice ended when B.W. Webb snagged the first interception of camp by a cornerback when he grabbed an underthrown Kyle Orton pass in team drills.

*Former Cowboy and Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin visited training camp to conduct interviews for NFL Network. Irvin hugged several players: Tony Romo, Orlando Scandrick, Morris Claiborne and Bryant. Irvin also shared a moment with Jerry and Stephen Jones.

*After four days of practice a total of 13,230 fans have visited. There is no practice on Thursday.

Selvie and the unknown Cohen step right in and immediately start dominating.

Yeah, it's not hard to figure out what's going on here. We clearly have the best DL scouts in the league.

Injury report: Morris Claiborne hurts his pinkie

July, 24, 2013

By Calvin Watkins | ESPNDallas.com

OXNARD, Calif. - The injury report got a little bigger on Wednesday.

*Cornerback Morris Claiborne dislocated his left pinkie during an one-on-one drill. Claiborne was in some pain for a few moments and had head athletic trainer Jim Maurer pop the finger back in and tape two fingers together so he could return to the field.

*Defensive tackle Jason Hatcher left practice because a ball hit him in the calf. He said he was fine.

*Ike Igbinosun (lower leg), Jay Ratliff (hamstring), Anthony Spencer (knee), Tyrone Crawford (Achilles), Ronald Leary (calf), Nate Livings (calf), Mackenzy Bernadeau(hamstring), Jermey Parnell (hamstring), Danny Coale (knee), James Hanna (hamstring) and LP Ladouceur (calf) missed practice as expected.

*Spencer is scheduled to undergo surgery for his knee on Thursday. Spencer did attend Wednesday's practices. Leary, Livings and Bernadeau ran sprints. Ladouceur worked on the resistance bands.
