I have questions. Murder investigations lead to solved murder cases 50% of the time. I always hear the same old cliches thrown out by investigators. Most popular, “The first 48 hours are crucial.” And “It’s usually the spouse/significant other or someone close.”.

I don’t know, I might be over analyzing that school of thought, but hear me out. If the first 48 hours are so crucial, and you’re solving these crimes right at 50% of the time, wouldn’t that be flawed logic?

So you solve 50% of murder investigations. Of those 50%, only 54% of those are people who were murdered by a spouse/significant other/family member.

Just to break that down. 100 murders happened today. 50 of those will be solved. 27.5% of the 50 solved murders are going to be solved because an investigator focused on the spouse/significant other/family initially.

Am I retarded for suggesting that half of all murders may be going unsolved because 100% of murder investigations start with bullshit logic?

These studies are all such bullshit.

This is the thing you generally have to realize, and you will realize it if you have half a functioning brain, about "research."

People only get into it if they have no other skills to actually produce things and they also almost always have an axe to grind and an outcome and agenda to push when they enter into the research.
