Don’t get an EV if you don’t want to, but this is absurd. You can get a Tesla with over 400 miles of range and the supercharger network is massive. I’ve had one since 2017 that’s only good for about 200-220 miles of range. I’ve never had an issue finding a place to charge and I’ve driven all over the country. And other EV’s besides Tesla’s are able to utilize the SC network.
Depends on where you live. Check out Lake of the Ozarks. There aren't many options for charging stations. And I have this fear of driving between 4 courts and not having even 10 minutes to plug in and running out of juice. I drive a lot. I'm not worried about a road trip. I'm concerned about being able to have a charge that will last me through a busy day of court. It's actually sad the amount of miles I've put on my car in like 3 years.
But again, I think I have a unique challenge for an EV. My wife could absolutely drive one, but I'd end up having to plug the damn thing in every night. She can't even figure out a routine to plug her phone in at night.
Ultimately in 4 or 5 years when I'm ready for my next car, my hope is the range and infrastructure around where I live will be better to consider it. I'm not in the market for a car right now. Except maybe something with third row seating for driving the family on the weekends.
