While I suspect we’ll have a gradual rollback of restrictions towards normality, I’m secretly rooting for 100% re-open the flood gates for everything lifted.

We’d have a Matrix-style mass orgy.
I wanna go there.

Thanks for the attaboy, appreciate it. Um, if the pt is here for something not COVID-sounding I wear a surgical mask, gloves, goggles and a surgical cap. For instance an elderly person to the ED for a fall. If there are respiratory complaints or a fever, I wear an N95 + surgical mask and have been using a gown. My medical director asked me to stop using a gown unless I'm doing a procedure though since we're running low and we're still 2 weeks to the peak.

If the pt needs critical care (intubation, central venous access) it's everything I mentioned before + face shield + surgical gown. We put a plastic box over the pt during the intubation to cut down aerosolization of the virus. It's a pucker moment. I usually slather my neck with hand sanitizer after the procedure as it's exposed.
good to hear, I assume the nurses are vigilant looking for symptoms, checking temps before letting patients interact with the docs

as an aside, I've been really curious about something for over a year now. My mom had a fall a year+ ago and we had to spend a lot of time in the ER and we never seemed to have the same doctor or nurse for very long but regardless of whether it was the same person who had been there before or not, they asked what her date of birth was every single time and it left me wondering what the heck is going here and why are they asking the same seemingly mundane question?

Do you know what the deal is with that?

Trump in 3+ years is sitting somewhere near 6.7 million jobs “created”.
Obama created 16 million jobs
I've never understood these claims, why the hell should any president get credit for so called job creation?

Aside from creating new government agencies that have to hire people, I don't see how any president deserves credit for jack squat in this regard and I am not hating on any presidents from either party in this regard, it just strikes as something both parties try to lay claim to in order to tout their guy (& vice versa when the numbers are bad).

I've never once hired someone and thought, thank gawd our president created this new job I was able to find someone to fulfill

Best as I can tell, either the government makes it easier for me to do my business and make a profit and therefore I choose to hire someone (not the president) or the government does something that disincentivizes me to hire anyone thereby reducing job growth but in both cases I'm (and anyone else who hires employees) am making that choice

That’s the reason for my air quotes.

At best, a President can only set the climate for whatever happens. They don’t really create shit.

AOC is my nightmare. She definitely tells your wife as soon as it’s done unless you give everything in your wallet to the illegal painting the house next door.
She's the Robin Hood of whores in this scenario :lol

I'm not sure I agree with that. If the President say puts tariffs on goo coming out of China and Nike decides, fuck this we are going to build a plant in the USA to get out from under those tariffs, there have been jobs created over here. That would be the direct results of the actions of the President.

Has anyone else noticed a spike in religious commercials? Also, The Today Show (my wife watches it every day) has had a priest and preacher on their show two days in a row now. I have never watched this show. Is that normal for them?

Exactly. Presidents don't really create any jobs, but they can remove impediments and let the private sector do its thing, or they can stand in its way with excessive taxes and regulations.

It's amazing how many people don't understand how the economy works. But in my experience, those are all people who work for some sort of government agency or are professionals who basically have incredible job security.

The Chief Executive doesn’t directly create jobs but they can remove obstacles and allow regulations that give private business and industry more leeway to encourage expansion and capital investment that will create jobs to move the ideas into reality. The added jobs become an additional tax revenue that adds to the coffers and monetary circulation of the economy and government revenues.

It's a safety measure when you change providers to make sure the right person is getting the right care. You don't want to XR the hip of someone there for vaginal bleeding. ;)

Probably you were in the ER long enough to be across shift changes for the RNs and MDs. They usually are staggered.

Certainly Presidents get too much credit and too much blame for the economy. However, when you are in office for 8 years and your policies are passed without bipartisan support (the Reps refused to vote for Obama's American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 during the Great Recession), you probably deserve plenty of blame and credit.
