If one Lubbock Costco has toilet paper, it vindicates free market. So does the three Targets here being out of toilet paper triple-unvindicate the free market.

I'm not against the free market, I just don't see the correlation between free market validation and one Costco having tp.
It's called self-regulation to balance the market. Don't be mad just because Target wasn't proactive enough.

Any information on why projections lowered?
a. Effectiveness of quarantines, lockdowns, social distancing, etc
b. Just not as contagious/deadly as projected
c. warmer weather or some other factor
Not sure? Maybe a little bit of all 3?

I'm not mad. I'm not short of supplies, but I was curious to see how supplies are.

What do you mean by free market? Because you celebrate regulations to restrict hoarding, but hoarding is acting freely in a free market, no? Amazon, Ebay and some other sites have banned accounts that have 2x 3x prices of these kinds of items despite people still buying at those 2x 3x prices -- is this what you consider part of your definition of a free market?
Yes..... the answer is yes.

Cool...so you're okay with restrictions in a free market as long as they aren't govt restrictions. Private industry restrictions okie dokie.
Absolutely. Because if a business does not adapt to the free market they go out of business of their own accord, not because the government made them.

There's a HUUUUUUUGGE difference.

If I don't like Costco's policies, I can shop elsewhere.

If I don't like the government's policies...welp. Sucks for me.
Exactly. The free market is unfuckingdefeated.

Agreed. Although, it can be argued that you're free to move to another jurisdiction.

Just discussing what a free market means. I'm not an expert on this, our govt(s) also get involved with tariffs, tax breaks, bailouts, special loans for small businesses, etc. Are these welcomed in your definitions of a free market?
I'm not a big fan of bailouts. I understand that at times they do help the economy, but still not a big fan of any government intervention.

The free market doesn't give bailouts. Read my post above.
But, like pd said, if it where up to free market there’d be no more GM, Chrysler or Ford; Citibank and numerous other financial institutions, we’d be under a couple of monopolies in key areas...
I’m all for free market, but it’s far from undefeated, nor should it be. There needs to be some control and regulations.

And another company would step in right where those companies left off. And the free market will have adjusted itself, and would remain undefeated.

Judges have ruling authority in circumstances requiring a legality sanction. City councils do not have this authority. They can pass ordinances and rules but the difference with this situation is that it needed a legal sanction above a city councils authority and apparently this judge was in a position to issue the rules. I haven’t researched this particular incident, I’m just making a general observation.

This is really just a pissing contest if you are familiar with some of the Commissioners.
its astonishing John Wiley Price still has a job, gawd I despise politics
