What's this? You can score and get the ball back if you go for a 4th and 12 and make it? Am I reading this right?

Yep, it's that onside kick alternative that was kicked around a couple years ago.

I think it's from like your own 30, so if you don't convert they get the ball there.

This one is fine. Give it about ten posts before the league folds.
No big stars (like the old days) and not playing in their home stadiums are huge negatives. Expect the Week 2 ratings to plummet.

Yeah, the thing had little chance anyway, but I think the bubble idea will really hurt it.

Onsides kick is way better. Element of surprise. The chaos, the clumsiness.

If you eliminated the onsides because of safety, the 4th and 12 is a necessary alternative, but no way is 4th and 12 better.

As an aside, 4th & 12 seems like a higher conversion rate than the onsides it’s replacing. Add propensity for defensive automatic first down penalties. I think it should be more like 4th and 20

Because of the low % of onside kicks that are successful, I think the strategy and intrigue would be way more entertaining.

If there is a defensive holding or PI, is that an automatic conversion?

What’s interesting is this guaranteed OT rule.

If I win the coin toss and score a TD, can I go for the 4th and 12, convert it and win the game?
