Source: Cowboys to sign George Selvie

Veteran defensive end joining Cowboys after Tyrone Crawford injury

Aaron Wilson

July 24, 2013, 07:55 AM EST . .

The Dallas Cowboys obtained some reinforcements for their injury-riddled defensive line.

The Cowboys are expected to sign defensive end George Selvie today, according to a league source.

The Cowboys lost defensive end Tyrone Crawford for the season due to a torn Achilles that will require surgery.

Selvie has 42 career tackles and three sacks.

A former St. Louis Rams seventh-round draft pick, Selvie, 26, is a 6-foot-4, 270-pound former University of South Florida All-American selection and Big East Conference Defensive Player of the Year.

He was with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers earlier this offseason before being released.

He also has played for the Carolina Panthers and Jacksonville Jaguars.

I laughed when I read the title. Does that give you any indication?

When I read it, I only thought of you honestly.

The guy fits the journeyman label to a tee. He was average in Carolina, when he actually did play. This is actually his third team since being released by Jacksonville. Wilson didn't mention that after Tampa cut him he signed for the Giants in mini camp and they weren't impressed enough to keep him.

I remember as a junior, he carried a pretty high grade, then dropped off his senior season. I wonder what his deal is.

He must be a great disappointment to you.

Actually, he's someone I like seeing fail. He's USF scum and I'm a UCF fan. He's a weird guy. He was recruited as a Center and got moved to DE. Dominated and then once JPP hit USF, his play suffered. You'd think having that freak opposite him would have made him better.

Maybe we can move him to interior OL instead. :unsure

Selvie's such a tease. Looks like Tarzan plays like Jane.

I remember he had that one big year in college then nothing after that.

Basically he went 1996 Brady Anderson on us.

Should we be boycotting him?

Might be time to send out a memo.

It's mostly black folks that are boycotting the state...which makes me curious why you're all the sudden planning a trip.
