whats this?
AOC tried to make a point againt Trump by how bad her Grandma in PR is doing then people started pointing out why don't you help her then Walsh started a gofundme for her and it got over 100k and then AOC had her Gma contact gofundme saying she wouldnt accept the moneywhats this?
Then prove it. It’s been 7 months. Find a shred of evidence to validate it. Numerous investigations and audits have already taken place, and nothing was found. I didn’t like either guy because I found both of them to be vile, but unless you have proof other than heresay nonsense, you don’t have anything other than the empty rhetoric from Trump bloviating about “fraud”.Because your response was silly at best. No president ever had gotten even close to 80 million votes, and yet this dementated fool set a record? Sure, Jan.
The problem a lot of us has is Dems blocking the evaluation of some districts where they literally put up paper on the windows to block people from watching the recount. Ffs if yall are positive nothing untoward happened why would you not want an open examination? Then prove it. It’s been 7 months. Find a shred of evidence to validate it. This is the same nutcase bullshit that the Democrats kept yapping about with the whole Russian collusion crap. There was nothing, they had nothing, investigated a bunch, verified there was nothing, but kept blabbering on, anyway.
Investigations should always be open, but I’d say that there have been enough of them already. Multiple states had recounts with Republicans witnessing everything and nothing was found. So, what we’re witnessing now are Republicans doing whatever they can to ensure they disenfranchise voters as a means of trying to win elections moving forward. With no evidence of fraud, there’s no need to ram through new laws and restrictions unless it was never about fraud, but finding ways to disenfranchise voters. The problem a lot of us has is Dems blocking the evaluation of some districts where they literally put up paper on the windows to block people from watching the recount. Ok so what do you think of HR1 the "for the people" bill which takes away states rights?Investigations should always be open, but I’d say that there have been enough of them already. Personally, I view voting laws the same way I view gun laws: I am completely against any person or law which attempts to restrict access or the right of the individual.
I don’t see how it’s constitutional since the right to vote isn’t expressly stated in the Constitution. The 15th, 19th, and 26th Amendments have voter protections in them, but the laws are and should be made by the states, which would be consistent with the 10th Amendment.Ok so what do you think of HR1 the "for the people" bill which takes away states rights?
If they were already on the books, then there’s no reason to sign new ones. This isn’t about affirming existing law. This is about control. Control the people, control the election. The intent is to limit and restrict the access to the ballot box, thus making it inconvenient for people to vote. Why else would it really focus on the methods that Democrats typically use to vote? They generally vote by means other than at the polls directly. So, reducing that access and then making the restrictions at the polls tighter is a method to disenfranchise them, which is wrong. I may not agree with Democrats on just about anything, but limiting access to voting is bullshit. You have to draw a line somewhere, though. What if I say we should vote by internet poll, and anything less convenient than that is "voter suppression?" These laws like the Georgia one are looser than what existed before covid, so why are they unacceptable now?
Democrats often vote by mail, so significant reductions to drop boxes impacts them. Like I said, this is about control. I read the bill. Some of it makes a lot of sense, but a lot of it is utter bullshit and serves as nothing but a mechanism to reduce access to voters. Which, again, is wrong. I don’t care how it’s spun. Reducing access and deliberately trying to disenfranchise voters is despicable. They generally vote other than at the polls? Until this last election which had the covid scare, less than 25% of the electorate voted by mail.
Again, if the rules were fine before a screwed up pandemic year, why are they so bad now? Anyone can still vote absentee if they don't want to do so in person.
This sounds like the claims that black people don't have or can't get IDs, which sounds awfully racist.
can you cite examples of this (please reference the bill or whatever and I'll look it up and try to read)? So, what we’re witnessing now are Republicans doing whatever they can to ensure they disenfranchise voters as a means of trying to win elections moving forward.
Neil Postman - Foreword to Amusing Ourselves to Death
We were keeping our eye on 1984. When the year came and the prophecy didn’t, thoughtful Americans sang softly in praise of themselves. The roots of liberal democracy had held. Wherever else the terror had happened, we, at least, had not been visited by Orwellian nightmares.
But we had forgotten that alongside Orwell’s dark vision, there was another—slightly older, slightly less well known, equally chilling: Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World. Contrary to common belief even among the educated, Huxley and Orwell did not prophesy the same thing. Orwell warns that we will be overcome by an externally imposed oppression. But in Huxley’s vision, no Big Brother is required to deprive people of their autonomy, maturity and history. As he saw it, people will come to love their oppression, to adore the technologies that undo their capacities to think.
What Orwell feared were those who would ban books. What Huxley feared was that there would be no reason to ban a book, for there would be no one who wanted to read one. Orwell feared those who would deprive us of information. Huxley feared those who would give us so much that we would be reduced to passivity and egoism. Orwell feared that the truth would be concealed from us. Huxley feared the truth would be drowned in a sea of irrelevance. Orwell feared we would become a captive culture. Huxley feared we would become a trivial culture, preoccupied with some equivalent of the feelies, the orgy porgy, and the centrifugal bumblepuppy. As Huxley remarked in Brave New World Revisited, the civil libertarians and rationalists who are ever on the alert to oppose tyranny “failed to take into account man’s almost infinite appetite for distractions.” In 1984, Huxley added, people are controlled by inflicting pain. In Brave New World, they are controlled by inflicting pleasure. In short, Orwell feared that what we hate will ruin us. Huxley feared that what we love will ruin us.
This book is about the possibility that Huxley, not Orwell, was right.
Then they need to learn how to walk. Or, ride a bus. Or find a friend for a ride. Mail in votes to me has always been a silly way to collect votes. It is way too open to fraud. Too many hands touch that ballot. USPS, poll workers, etc. I do believe there should be a mail in option but there should be strict processes in place for how that vote gets tabulated, kinda like this new bill in GA puts in place.Democrats often vote by mail
Dude, when someone says "disenfranchise" you are not allowed to argue with them. It's immediately bigotry.can you cite examples of this (please reference the bill or whatever and I'll look it up and try to read)?
What exactly are they doing to disenfranchise voters?
I dont want any voter to be disenfranchised but I dont think requiring voter ID constitutes disenfranchisement and its certainly not racist, in fact I could argue the opposite, its at the very least condescending to minorities, most of whom, like any of us, have had an id most of our lives since being eligible to drive
There is literally no proof to that claim. Hundreds of millions of ballots across decades of elections were tested for fraud and virtually none were found. People who hang onto that nonsense spend way too much time listening to Fox News and further right organizations. Voting is completely different from gun control bullshit. You still have access to vote, it's just a little more difficult. Kinda like having to pass a background check AND SHOW YOUR FUCKING ID is required to buy a gun. The same can be said about having to supply a form to mail in a vote, or having to bring your own god damn water when you vote, or ask a poll worker for some. There is literally no proof to that claim. Again, limiting and restricting access to voting because you feel they “need to learn to walk” is fucking stupid. To me, that’s just as stupid as liberals banning AR-15s and restricting magazine sizes because “no one needs” those things. You strip liberty, and I’ll tell you to go fuck yourself.
Speaking of dumb shit about firearms I bought a couple 10/22s from Academy just awhile back and they wouldn't approve my purchase because at first I used my cc that had my office address on it, I had to cancel that and use another card that matched my home addressVoting is completely different from gun control bullshit. This is a really dumb debate. There is nothing about the GA or TX bill that restricts voting to minorities or anyone, and you have yet to prove otherwise besides generic statements that aren't true..
