We still had a solid team for a few years after 82, but when Danny White started getting injured that was the death knell. We never made a real effort to find a QB to replace him and stupidly wasted a lot of time with Gary Hogeboom and Steve Pelleur.
And Danny was truly a very talented QB, and don’t forget punter. Imagine Bones Fassel if he had that weapon

I thought Hogeboom was going to be great.

In my defense, I was only about 12 yrs old or so.

He was never the same after he broke his wrist against the Giants in ‘86. Up until then he was always extremely capable.
