Question from a girl with no football knowledge

Ok. Here’s my question:
I know a guy who claims he played for the cowboys - rookie year 1982. His room is a shrine to the cowboys and he wears a super bowl ring. I looked him up in the all time cowboys roster and he isn’t there. I’m pretty convinced he’s made all of this up. If he played for them, even as a rookie, wouldn’t he be listed on the all time roster?
And would he have a Super Bowl ring??

Yes. His name is Danny Chandler. Not Daniel. Danny. He claims his rookie year was 82.

If he was a rookie in 82', he would have had to wait ten years to get a ring with the Cowboys. Never heard the name before.
Maybe he was a backup or practice squad player with another team.

‘82 was a lost year. The year after The Catch, we were slowly trending downward into irrelevance.

We still had a solid team for a few years after 82, but when Danny White started getting injured that was the death knell. We never made a real effort to find a QB to replace him and stupidly wasted a lot of time with Gary Hogeboom and Steve Pelleur.
