Interview: Matt Hall, OL, Belhaven

Draft Diamonds Prospect Interview: Matt Hall, OL, Belhaven

Matt Hall is the best unknown secret in the NCAA. The former Arkansas/Ole Miss transfer is a monster. At 6’9 and 300 plus pounds he could be the strongest player in the draft. He is a huge gym rat and if he does get the chance to go to the NFL Scouting Combine, Hall could bench 225, 40 times. He is a monster in the gym and with that arm span you would think it would be harder, but he makes it look easy.

How many teams were recruiting you out of high school?

I got offered from 4 schools in high school
University of Arkansas
University of Mississippi
University of Missouri
Florida State University

Where did you choose and why?

I commuted to Arkansas when I was a junior in high school because it was my Home state and I wanted to play for Coach Houston Nutt :nodno

What were your goals for your senior year?

My goals are to be the best player I can be and to get drafted.

Have any scouts met with you, and if so what are they saying?

Every team has been through Belhaven and they all say good things that I move well for a big guy can bend and can have potential.

At your position, what separates you from the others?

What separates me from the other players is defiantly size and strength I am one of the strongest tackles in the nation and it’s not bad when u also have the wingspan that I have.

Tell us what you look for when breaking down film?

When I break down film I always look at the opponents feet is he quick? Is he strong? Is he good with his hands? Does he show anything in his stance what’s his pass rush like? How does he play the run? Does he try and move you or stand up and look around for the ball.

Who was the toughest player you have ever faced?

The best player I’ve ever played against was Hightower when I was at old miss and he was at Alabama he is jut a good player

What was the biggest obstacle in your life you had to overcome, and how did you overcome it?

The biggest obstacle in my life would be the trouble I got in at ole miss and you get into trouble but you learn from it and as long as u learn from it and are able to step back and learn something about life I think you will be able to handle it.

What system fits your style of play the best?

I think I’m more of a right tackle just strong likes to run the ball I’ll be a part of a offense that likes big strong lineman.

What is your biggest strength?

My strength would have to be size and strength

What is your biggest weakness?

I would say my weakness would have to be quickness. I don’t think I am slow for a big guy I just know there is always room for improvement

If I were a GM and gave you a second to sell yourself, what would you say?

If u were a gm I’d tell you that I’m big and strong and I’m not afraid to work and I know I’ll have to work I won’t quit on you and I won’t quit on my team

If you were to have dinner with three people dead or alive who would it be?

If I were to have dinner with 3 people I don’t know about 2 but George Strait would definitely be one of them.

With your first paycheck what would you buy?

All my money I make is going into my future ranch wherever that will be!

Arizona State's Will Sutton meets NFL teams with confidence

By Chase Goodbread
College Football 24/7 writer

The Sun Devils star couldn't even recall every team that interviewed him since his arrival at the Senior Bowl, but he couldn't have felt better about the way he presented himself.

"I talked to the Saints, Cowboys, Tampa Bay, Ravens, Oakland, Houston, Green Bay, a bunch of teams," said Sutton (6-1, 305 pounds). "No regrets. You've got to go in there with confidence and just be honest, 100 percent honest. Because it's a business. They don't want a guy to lie to them."

Sutton made 13.5 tackles for loss for Arizona State this year, with four sacks among 48 tackles, and even came up with an interception. So which of his attributes made that success possible?

"Get-off, and hands," Sutton said.

Check out those attributes in this video clip of Sutton battling Vanderbilt left tackle Wesley Johnson in one-on-one drills at practice Monday.

Sutton said Florida offensive guard Jon Halapio was his toughest matchup in one-on-one drills Monday. And it's a matchup he's been anticipating.

"I've been watching him since he's been there, and I've always had an interest in how he plays," Sutton said. "Going up against him, he's got great technique, and he's a physical guy. It's going to be fun these next few days."

To be fair, that is the bigger issue I think. Old Man Kiffin wants guys who can fire off the ball quickly, ala Sapp.

@calvinwatkins: Cowboys have talked to Texas WR Mike Davis, who works out with Dez Bryant from time-to-time.

@calvinwatkins: Cowboys have also spoken with Eastern Illinois QB Jimmy Garoppolo.
