Again, the original email actually stated not to send any secured information. This is also why many of the agencies has sent follow up emails directing their personnel not to answer and that they would handle it internally.
I actually care a great deal about them at least having SOMETHING to report. They are spending my money on a bloated government, and while I realize most of what is happening is necessary, I would at least like them to attempt to spend my money somewhat wisely.
I saw that it said no classified information or whatever but let's say 500K-1M people respond, and theoretically "malign actors" are able to access that. Even if there's no classified information provided, don't you think those "malign actors" could drill down and create a very detailed map of the specific people who are responsible for specific things at agencies all across the government?

Doesn't seem great.

So Musk sends out that ridiculous email. The heads of several departments, (Justice, Defense, others) follow that with an email ordering them to ignore it. Trump comes out and says it's voluntary to answer the email. Musk comes out and says those who didn't answer will be given a second chance to answer. OPM says no not answer it.

Does anyone know WTF they are doing?

Well, most folks have a job title that is most likely at the bottom of their emails, and it will pretty much tell you what they do for a living. Seems you're looking for a reason to be angry about it more than you actually have reason to. I don't think 98% of our government employees are really that secret or are even that important. Judging by the ones I have seen on Facebook and X, most of them have pretty menial careers.

Potentially giving "malign actors" an organizational map of 40%, 60%, 80% of the government doesn't seem very smart.

Do you know how foreign actors look to infiltrate government?

It's not by manipulating the person leading counterterrorism at the FBI, it's by finding out who operates in that person's orbit doing overlooked "menial" administrative tasks and has access to that person and their day to day.

This is a ridiculous criticism. Do you think government employees shouldn't use email?

He's a mental case. The guy has no ability to be rational, he jumps around on a stage like a lunatic, cannot process any sort of critical thinking, the list goes on. Who the fuck sends some college dropouts into the IRS and other institutions to determine for him what needs to be cut? Only a fucking mental case. If Biden or Harris had done that, you'd be saying the same thing, and would be absolutely correct.
Hates Trump for reasons.

Now hates Musk for similar irrational reasons.

We are seeing the truth here.

Musk "jumps around on stage like a lunatic."

Definitely a reason to hate him, sure, sure.

Musk "cannot process any sort of critical thinking."

Actually the dude is a genius and can think in circles around you. Perhaps it's time to find a mirror?

Critical thinker who's able to assess why his rockets keep blowing up lately. Oh I'm sorry, suffering from "unscheduled disassembly" events.

Critical thinker who's able to make corrections to his vehicles so that maybe they can finally recommend that they can finally start storing them in their garages because they are no longer susceptible to bursting into flames.

Critical thinker who surmises that it's wise to send people barely able to buy a beer into the government's financial institutions to glean our personal information and keep it safe.

Yep, I can see why NoDak likes what he sees there. Right alongside his buddy Smitty.

Speaking of critical thinkers...

Yeah, everyone here can clearly see how I'd align with Musk's stuff. Sure. I just eat that electric car shit right up.

And Schmitty? Yeah, we've just got along swimmingly over the years. In fact, I wouldn't say just buddies. I'd say BEST buddies would probably be the correct angle to approach it from.

:lol

Critical thinker.

My point was that agencies themselves are calling out the risk of the emails being read by "malign actors", presumably because the email server that they just set up at OPM 5 weeks ago or whatever is relatively halfassed according to what's been reported.

Clearly there's a national security concern when all of the primary national security agencies, all headed by Trump appointees, pushed back on it.

It's a ridiculous criticism because it's already been made clear that they aren't asking for sensitive information and almost anything will be acceptable.

There's no national security concern about:

  • Met with my supervisor
  • Participated in meeting with staff
  • Emailed supervisor for clarification on a question

Etc.

It's a nonsense criticism from people who are just looking for a reason because they have already decided that they hate it (most likely for partisan reasons).
