This is embarrassing. You're basically telling the world you'll back down at the first sign of resistance.

Is this in reference to the pause?

Eh you get them to the table, and you pause. That makes sense. If you don't come to the table you don't pause, aka China.

Except this is now the third time he's done this since January 20. Maybe the fourth. He's become the president who cried wolf.

Didn't these tariffs go into effect on April 2nd?

Yes. And there are still tariffs, they have been reduced to 10% for everyone except the Chinese.

It was more in response to this from bbgun:

I didn't understand this in the context of the tariffs.

Why is there so much contention over this? Seems like it would be an easy thing to prove. One side says it's happening and one side says it isn't.

I seriously doubt that DOGE is just making it up out of thin air. And why should it even be continuous? Well I know why, but it shouldn't matter if you are a Democrat or a Republican, you should support these kind of findings and get behind stopping the waste, fraud and abuse. But of course an obvious point that we should all easily be able to agree on can no longer be agreed upon in politics. Everything has to be a disagreement. Someone could be murdered and one side has to say it's right and the other one has to say it's wrong. Which is just fucking stupid.

This isn't a political opinion question. This is a, everyone should hate waste fraud or abuse of tax dollars no matter what their political party is. Do you want the money to go to people who need it? Or do you want the money to go to some scumbag scamming the system?

If one party is mostly benefiting from the fraud, of course they won't want it exposed.

Who benefits from this kind of fraud other than the person getting the check? They are only afraid because a win for DOGE looks like a loss for them. Again, pathetic way of doing politics. The reality is they should say, that's awesome, we are against fraud too and the perpetrators should be prosecuted for what they did.
