That one I do not understand. He is a pure gunner. That is it. Maybe I am unaware of other team’s roster, but the guy is a corner who cannot play corner.

No point in even calling him a corner.

And this has always been my question, is he that special of a gunner? Like is the difference between CJ Goodwin and say someone else on the roster that significant that you just have to waste a roster spot on him? Is he doing ungodly things and I'm just not aware of it? Certainly we have big guys who can run fast on the roster. Guys that know how to get off a press.

I watch the games and I don't see CJ Goodwin doing anything game changing on special teams. Is this something I'm missing? Is it that he is forcing a bunch of fair catches on punts? Hell we barely punt in the first place.

I do remember when they tried Bossman Fat there and it was an abject failure. But he failed at pretty much everything, so…

I actually remember him make a couple good plays and a couple of bone headed ones in that role. I can't for the life of me remember much of going damn, did you see that CJ Goodwin play on that punt.

Yeah, Bossman was actually a pretty good gunner. I remember when he got hurt and Giraffe Wright took his place, you could tell a difference.

Not that that excuses the bad pick, or Goodwin getting a lifetime roster spot.

That's kind of the funny part. The guy is a 34 year old, ten year veteran in the NFL that I don't think has ever had a position. He only got a start with the Steelers based of a favor tryout to Mel Blount. He was picked up and dropped by a bunch of teams after that. And then in 2018 he signed with the Cowboys and just never left. I'm sure he is a really good dude and a special leader on special teams. But I sort of think only the Cowboys hold any value in the guy.

And at least for me personally you already have 3 spots on special teams reserved for guys that only play special teams. Having a fourth special teams only guy doesn't make any sense unless he is truly elite. The Tom Brady of coverage units.
