Who knew that drafting a guy because he had a locker next to Jerruh's idiot grandkid would be a bad idea?

The future of this franchise is safe from intelligent decision making, there ain't no doubt about it.
Rarely see a mid-rounds drafted player yet to take an NFL snap garner such attention and an abiding assumption that he’s going to be some kind of stud. It’s weird.

I mean we have seen him flash pretty well in preseason this year and last. It is only preseason but a third round pick at LBer is nothing to huff at either. It's a position that you sort of expect to hit on starters in the middle rounds. Anyway, we will see how he looks when the big boys play but I'll say I wasn't impressed at the time we drafted him. But his flashes have given me some hope that maybe he is legit.

I'm curious to see how the LBers shake out this year. We sort of have 4 guys fighting for real playing time. Hopefully they can all get healthy so we can see how it shakes out.

I don't think there would be all this anointing for the guy except he did look pretty good last preseason.

But if you were to argue that we should never rely on preseason games alone to evaluate an otherwise untested player I'd strongly agree.

It's always been silly to assume this guy would seamlessly jump into a starting LB job coming off an ACL and having zero pro experience in real games.

Hopefully this all works out and it's encouraging that Louoiuioufa looks good so far. And we probably won't need a third LB a ton.

Yeah, clearly I hope for the best from Overshown. He has a great attitude, personality, and has put in the time to bulk up into the 230’s where he needs to be.

I think we need to just go out and pay to get someone a la Amari Cooper.
I'd be all for that. I think the devaluing of the RB position has gone too far.

There’s typically someone talented and unhappy/underutilized. Who is that impactful skill guy on the market this year?

For me, it’s Devante Adams, but he’s going to cost a fortune

I agree, the only way I trade for one now is if I think it makes us a legit Superbowl contender. Otherwise the burnout rate at RB is too fast.
I don’t believe there is a back I would be willing to trade for. The idea is preposterous.

I'm not saying a first rounder, RBs don't command that premium.

But I think they should probably be looking for a young RB to trade for, not just scour the waiver wire.
If they are so good, why would they be available?

Yeah I would be willing to do that. But a day three pick. And honestly I don't think they will do it until the Dowdle/Zeke experiment shows what a failure I think it will be. Zeke is just eating up a spot in the depth chart I can't justify in any way.

Hey! Zeke has position flex to center

Was watching HWTB and they touched on something interesting when looking at the final 53... particularly when considering the # of TEs, plus Lupke and some of the other athletic, big frame guys that were retained. They brought up the new kick-off rule... gone are the days of the massive front line blockers with the smaller guys behind them looking for a crease to slip through, now you need guys (across the board) that are big enough to block, but agile enough to shed and change direction quickly.

There is no room for error, if one of these return guys gets a little space... there's nothing in front of them but 60 yards of green grass.

Special Teams are always the hidden side of roster building. It is why you might see a Tyus Wheat on the roster. Hopefully Fassel is deep in it with the new rules. It is not like the old days where you could tell from the preseason games. I think a lot has been hidden for a reason.
