Crap v crap

One guy who is soft in the ass going against a guy who can do nothing but bull rush. This is exactly my concern with Hoffman while he has somehow locked down his spot. He is going to get pushed backwards in pass protection. Which really impacts Dak's ability to step up in the pocket.

I think Beebee will eventually take over the job but Hoffman is going to have to lose it by being exposed in a game.

That last part is the unfortunate part. Beebe is nowhere close to where he needs to be with shotgun snaps.

I'm listening to the Mickey DC.com show because Nate is on there. Love Nate. He's the most honest, objective guy of that crew, and probably more than anyone in the DFW media.

I didn't realize how much he loved Asim Richards. Said he had the size and the quick feet, and just needed strength -- which he's added this offseason. Said he told Solari that if he let Richards go, he'd regret it because he'd start for someone and play in the league 10 years. Also likes Bass a lot. Said he had no use for the other, younger guys -- presumably that's Ball and Waletzko.

Bad news, they all say Beebe isn't close to Hoffman right now. I guess the snaps are that big an issue. Nate seems to think Beebe's short arms could be an issue, though Hoffman has the same problem.

Also, seems like they and the team really love Luepke and think he's going to play a lot. Maybe even be our third down back.
Most here loved Richards and Bass last year, Bass in particular but I think a lot of people held hope for Richards. It'll be interesting to see what they do along the OL because they seem to have a glut of OG talent at the moment even after Martin retires.

Tyler, Bass, Richards and Beebe could all start at OG, of course Tyler could also play LT, Guyton can also play RT, and Richards could presumably play LT as well.

It might be prudent to keep cross-training Guyton at RT and move him over there in a year or two depending on how Richards, Bass and Beebe develop. The most crucial long-term piece of it is Beebe developing into a center, we already have a bunch of guys who I'd feel comfortable as long-term starting OG's, we don't have a C though unless Hoffman takes a quantum leap.
Yeah I've been telling everyone Asim Richards is a starter in this league.

A couple things I forgot, they say Liafau looks really good and has improved a lot from earlier. Nate says he's really fast closing on the ball especially in pass coverage -- not that he's the most athletic guy (I think Nate means as in combine testing) but he has such good anticipation and recognizes what's happening so fast.

Also Nate mentioned Hendershot as being too up and down and "moody." They say Fant looks surprisingly good. I'm wondering if they don't keep him as a backup FB -- if they really like Luepke that much and create a bigger role for him (which Mike said they would today) then they might need a backup there.

Also, I guess they are holding Micah out of a lot of DE stuff. Yesterday Micah got mad they wouldn't let him play end in some of the run stuff and he took it out on everyone by wrecking practice. Of course it helps too when Guyton is out like he was.

I actually liked Cropper when we signed him as an UDFA. His problem is finding a role on special teams. He is your sort of typical return man but not coverage. And since Turpin is viewed as a special weapon, Cropper probably won't make the roster. Even though I think he has some legit ability as a receiver. He would need to be a main returner to make the roster and Turpin isn't going anywhere in that role.

I don't know about starter but I'm ready for the guy to step into the swing tackle role. Maybe a future starter but we all know how important that backup LT/RT is, and in his case he may be able to play guard as well. That's pretty damn valuable to have on game days right now.

Yeah I don’t mean today, but I think someday for sure.

Lewis is also the one Cropper beat for big gains and a TD in the scrimmage the other day. Not sure I'm buying the BSOHL line on him.
