Here's the thing about Harden.
You can question him all you want. That's fine. I think based on the current state of the team the Sixers needed Harden to step up and he wasn't able to, because of Embiid's health and how much attention Embiid got on every possession.
That's not the point though.
The Sixers were stuck between a rock and a hard place with Simmons with no leverage. Who else were they going to trade for? Getting a player of Harden's caliber for Simmons was best case scenario.
Harden isn't a top 5, top 10 or whatever player but that's fine. He wasn't brought in to save the franchise, he was brought in to salvage a bad situation with Simmons.
And honestly they're better off with Harden than Simmons, or at least no worse.
If your takeaway is that Harden isn't clutch or isn't elite or whatever you guys are saying, you've missed the point entirely. That's not why he's in Philly.
