Poked in the eye. Play is over body checked and then a second girl comes and body checks her? Is that really regular in the WNBA because the feels a bit out of control?

And for some reason Clark seems to get hit in the face and eye area a lot. But maybe thats going on with everyone?
If it's going on with everyone, then why is it? Why would the league allow that? I don't see how that's good for anyone.

That would be like the NBA pausing a game so that LeBron could go to the locker room and adjust his hair piece.
Are we sure they wouldn't? :tippytoe

I watch about 2-3 games a week. I watched last night's Liberty vs Lynx game on ESPN.
Oh I'm not questioning that you watch the games, just more a question of why? Like what about the sport do you enjoy? I'll admit I watched Clark at Iowa. Because I'm just an Iowa fan and we had a special (relatively speaking) player. But I've never actually watched a WNBA game. And before Clark I'd never watched a womens college basketball game either.

Question then, 1big... So it's routine for players to come bump other players even long after the whistle like in that Clark vid? That's already outside the rules, so why aren't they enforcing that?
They're handing out techs on some of that stuff. And yes it is common for other players to have these dustups after a plays been whistled dead. In fact over the weekend Chicago and Indiana played, but both Clark and Angel Reese missed the game, and there was still a brief scuffle between the players.

I just like watching basketball. Plus there are some really good shooters and scorers who are worth tuning in for. Ionescu is fun to watch when she gets hot. There's a noticeable increase in talent level compared to 25 years ago. The early days of the WNBA the women weren't as athletic and they took a lot of those slow-loading "push shots". Now they are a lot more athletic and have learned to get their shots off just as quick as the men.

It'll never been as entertaining as the NBA because pretty much everyone plays below the rim. But there are some women players coming down the pipeline that have dynamic layup packages that rival the Iverson/Kyries of the NBA.

I agree. That's why I said they need to change their rules to get that stuff out of the game. The NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL all did it and their sports have been better for it.

Makes sense, like I said, I've never really given it a chance. But I'm also not that big of a basketball fan in all fairness. It's why I won't get into any debates about NBA stuff. I haven't enjoyed the NBA in a long time. I actually watch less college basketball every year. When it comes to the WNBA I watch the clips just like most of us and they look awful. But you don't really see clips of the great plays outside of some Clark stuff occasionally.

You see the Angel Reese clips and it's just like, holy shit this is awful. No skill, she just shoves people around and grabs rebounds and then throws up another brick.

I've never believed that there isn't fun in watching sports that aren't at the highest level of talent. It's why we all watch college football even though the skill level isn't anywhere close to that of the NFL. It's why I have been of the belief that women's basketball actually can find ways to put out an entertaining product.

This is my point. You guys are openly admitting you don't watch the sport in one breath, then in the next complaining that she's being singled out and picked on. How do you know if she's being singled out if you don't watch?

People who actually watch the WNBA on a regular basis know that what Caitlin Clark goes through is WIDESPREAD throughout the league. The difference is if someone body checks Allisha Gray there isn't going to be a massive public reaction.

IMO a better conversation to nip all this in the bud is for the WNBA to change their rules to make things easier for stars like Clark. We've seen every other major sports league do this. NHL changed rules to get the goons out of the sport to create more scoring. The NFL is constantly changing their rules to benefit the offense, and when star players get hurt they change rules to outlaw specific plays that led to said injuries. It's time for the WNBA to do the same. Because right now they're playing 80s/90s style of b-ball. They're allowed to do stuff that's not allowed in today's NBA.
I've never actually complained about it, I'm just giving my opinion on stuff I see here. I barely know what's going on in the WNBA in any form or fashion.

Opening night and Christmas Day games have been announced.

They're making Kevin Durant go to OKC on opening night to watch the Thunder get their rings and raise the banner. :lol
