I think Edgecombe over Bailey will age very poorly for the Sixers.
I think Bailey will be a good player, but he turned off a lot of teams during the draft process. Any idea why he was turning down visits with teams in the top ten? I never did hear an explanation why.

I think he wanted to be the #1 guy which he wouldn't have been in Philly. Jazz took them and they are awful, so I guess he kinda got his wish, but he skipped workouts there as well.

I can’t believe I haven’t seen Flagg compared to other white players. I keep seeing Scottie pippen and K Leonard.

I've been saying a slightly shorter/less explosive KG for about a year, a KG/Pippen hybrid (as a ceiling) makes sense.

I will say that I am skeptical of both Harper and Bailey. It's a little uncomfortable that a bad college team had 2 players in the top 5.

I'm starting to come around on Edgecombe. At least his team was in the tournament.

Agreed, I think Harper is generally worth the risk but Bailey seems like a completely selfish nutball.

He basically tried to force himself to certain teams where he could freely chuck so he can maximize his stats/next contract. Personally I had him towards the 8-12 range and would've taken a number of guys over him.

Edgecombe doesn't have as high of a ceiling but he's basically guaranteed to be a really good 3+D guy, possibly an All-Defense type, with potential for more.

Yeah, it's kind of crazy. But I also think sometimes the freshman stud gets overrated in college basketball.

I also had Essengue, who ended up with the Bulls, very high, basically in the 4-6 range.

He's raw but he also put up stats in the second best European competition at just 18, which is definitely tougher than the NCAA. Throw in that he's damn near 7 feet, plays really good defense for his age, and tested extremely well for his size and that's a no-brainer gamble when you're in the late lottery.

Putting up 12/5 and leading your team in rebounds/steals in Euro Cup at 18 is very legit, for comparison Risacher who went first last year put up 13/4 in the same competition the year before.

Interestingly, Ace Bailey and VJ Edgecombe faced off in their first summer league game.

Edgecombe: 28 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 blocks and 1 steal.

Bailey: 7 points on 3-for-13 shooting and 7 rebounds.

Debate over forever based on 1 summer league game. :unsure

Was it really a debate?

I had Edgecombe over him comfortably and I think most did as well.

It's pretty obvious that Bailey has a higher ceiling but he's a nut case.

I was originally hoping for Bailey because of his ceiling. I've since come around because I think when you pay attention he's pretty unlikely to reach his ceiling and he may never get close even. He just doesn't seem to have that drive that top players need to have. A bit like Ben Simmons.
