To be fair to my original comment, I was talking about the starters, not involving relievers. You know, the guys who pitch the first 5 or 6 periods.

Their starters still had a very good era for much of the year. Led the league or at top until September when all the wheels fell off. They were having to pitch 1 or 2 run games for too much of the season.
