Hate to nitpick but he's really not an elite pitcher. He's a very good pitcher.

When I think of elite pitchers I think of guys who are stacking up Cy Youngs, winning pitching triple crowns, leading the league in Ks, ERA, etc.

Ohtani's done none of that yet.
I can't say you're wrong, but even that is incredibly impressive.

As a pitcher, the guy struck out Mike Trout at the WBC to win the title for Japan. That's the same guy who just became the sport's first ever 50/50 member in a game where he hit 3 hr, stole 2 bases, and racked up 10 RBI.

I mean, just read that last paragraph again and tell me it doesn't sound ridiculous! :lol

That 3rd home run looked like a meatball that was purposely served up by a team with nothing to play for.

It reminded me of the softball Chan Ho Park served up to Cal Ripken Jr in Ripken's final All-Star game. :lol

That part too.

But I'd be surprised if they don't at least try to use him as a middle reliver. Hell, maybe he has the balls to be a closer. There have been quite a few former starting pitchers who made a successful transition to closer roles.
I'd be very surprised if he didn't pitch again, at least in some capacity.

My guess is he probably does start off as a reliever pitching maybe two or three innings at a time with the idea of getting back to a place where he can pitch 5-7 innings again.

Also, I think you misunderstand my position on strike outs.

It's not that they're good, all outs are bad. Which is the point. Strikeouts are way way over vilified. All outs are bad.
i know your stance I just like to yank your chain. its just something we arent ever going to agree on but thats ok.

He's definitely an all timer. Would he be doing 50/50 while pitching a full season as well? Doubtful. If he wouldn't keep get hurt pitching and kept posting 40/30 seasons while maintaining a 3.00 era with a well over 1 k per inning pitching? Yeah, that would be best ever stuff.

Don't mistake MOC points with disdain.
Watch me start the gameday thread with that and see how many MOC credits I get just from Booze alone.

The shortstop was probably pitching by that point.

I'd hold it hostage too!

Shit, the guy is making more than half a billion as a Dodger, he can afford to shoot me a few hundred K for it.

If not, fuck it.... I'll put it up for auction.

But the one thing I'm not doing is giving that ball back for free.
