I don't know what the pitching staff is going to look like next season. Eovaldi and Heaney are FAs. Heaney pitched considerably better this year and was the victim of no offensive production in his starts. Never worried about Eovaldi. However I've heard rumblings that the owner is tired of spending so those 2 and Scherzer are probably gone.
Next year's pitching rotation probably goes: deGrom-Bradford-Rocker-Mahle-Leiter, with Dane Dunning and Jon Gray as SP depth while also being able to work out of the pen.
Rocker was dominant in his first MLB start last week and Leiter has steadily improved since being brought back up last month, and the front office seem to want to keep the door open for both of them to be in next year's rotation.
At most, they might sign another budget pitcher for a little extra SP depth like they did last year with Jose Urena. Wouldn't surprise me if they just brought him back on a cheap deal again. He was servicable. Not spectacular by any stretch, but servicable.
With a lot of contracts coming off the books this offseason, Texas will have a decent amount of money to spend without going over the luxury tax threshold, but expect the majority of what they spend to be on bullpen and maybe one significant bat addition.
The team's fatal flaw this season has been significant regression from many of the key hitters from last year's WS run, like Semien, Garcia, Heim, and to an extent Lowe.

Shoehei Ohtani is barely in his 7th season in MLB and he's already the greatest player the league has ever seen.

He's without question the greatest baseball player that ever lived.

This guy just founded the 50/50 club and he did so in a game where he tallied 2 HRs, 2 stolen bases, and 7 RBI.

That's just fucking absurd.

OMG.... He just hit a 3rd HR!

He's got 10 RBI in this game!

This guy isn't human.

I am. With his pitching involved, I think he is better than Babe Ruth as far as a utilitarian player.
Dude, he's literally only the second player to ever be elite at both pitching and hitting at the same time and the other guy who could do it last played almost 100 years ago.

Like you said, he's an even better version of Babe Ruth and now he's created a club that he's the only member of.

50/50 is absolute insanity.

He's absolutely the greatest player ever.

I just think that we've seen better hitters who were also outstanding defensive players who saved their teams runs and hits on a daily basis.

I place a lot of value on a player's ability to field his position. I think I'd probably lean Ohtani if he actually played somewhere in the field, especially if he were an OF.

I think him being an elite pitcher is even more impressive than if he were an elite field player.

We've seen great two-way players before, but we haven't seen ANYONE in the modern era be both an elite hitter and elite pitcher at the same time.

Hell, the guy is an elite base stealer too! :lol

But, did they pitch? At a very high level.

If not him then who?

I would think that you would like him because he does strikeout quite a bit.

I would put him top 5 but definitely in the conversation.

There are a bunch that I'd put ahead of him.

But I have no problem with someone making the argument. Although I disagree, he's certainly up there (although I'd also say it's a tad early to say that at the very least).

But I have a huge problem with the "without question" part. There's certainly a question. It's absurd to say there's no question. That's taking it way too far.

Also, I think you misunderstand my position on strike outs.

It's not that they're good, all outs are bad. Which is the point. Strikeouts are way way over vilified. All outs are bad.

Hate to nitpick but he's really not an elite pitcher. He's a very good pitcher.

When I think of elite pitchers I think of guys who are stacking up Cy Youngs, winning pitching triple crowns, leading the league in Ks, ERA, etc.

Ohtani's done none of that yet.

I would agree with this to some amount. But, to me, he is the best 2-way player ever to take the field.
