Sorry, I apologized in advance.
:lol

Ah shit, enjoy it man. It's not everyday your team gets the chance to compete for a championship.

And I've got love for DFW teams so it doesn't bother me at all.

@Rev and I are similar in that 2 of our 3 favorite sporting teams come from Dallas and 1 comes from Houston. In my case it's the Astros and in his it's the Rockets.

Funny how that worked out.

So, Arizona has owned us this year (1-3), and we opened the season against the Phillies (3-0).
Seems we have a better grip on the on the Phils.

I was just thinking how an Arizona vs Texas World Series could possibly be the most random WS matchup ever.

Random in that neither organization is a blue blood or is considered an historical franchise.

Even though two of the United States largest markets would be involved, it still feels like a very niche matchup to me.

Their scouting and front office is so good that they've set themselves up to be really good for years to come..... Which is crazy to think about because they're already on a run of 7 straight ALCS appearances.

But between Altuve and Alvarez, they've got 2 monsters to build around in the lineup with Bregman being a consistently solid contributor.

And assuming that Jeremy Peña rebounds from his sophomore slump, they've got 3 really good young players coming up in him, Mauricio Dubon, and Chas McCormick.

So they've got the roster to continue to compete at a high level for the next few years.

I'm sure they'll address the starting pitching in the offseason and if they do, those pesky bastards will be in the mix for the pennant again next season.
Bregman and Altuve are both up after next season. Be interesting if they chase the money now. I don't know what their payroll is at, though. They only have a couple of bullpen pieces up after this season so at least next season it should be a dogfight.

The Rangers have quite a list of players up after this year but most are guys like Grossman and Jankowski. Their big ones are Montgomery and Garver.

Here's hoping we can resign Monty but I'm not too optimistic.

Yeah. I was just getting into basketball when the Houston Cougars had that run in the NCAA playoffs. Followed Olajuwon to Houston.

Now watch us lose Garver due to letting Abreu play.

I'll say this, the Phillies right now are not the same team that we were in that opening series. Harper was out, for example. I wouldn't judge the potential matchup based on that series.

I agree. I'm not sure who I want to play. I do know that if we do play the Phillies then you are going to love my countdown. Sorry can't stop it now.

Altuve is a lifer so I'm 100% sure they keep him.

If anyone is expendable, it'll be Bregman.

The Astros aren't cheap but they also aren't going to have an astronomical payroll either, so they pick and choose who to give the big money to.

So I think they'll let Bregman walk in order to have the flexibility to give more money to Altuve and Alvarez.

So who here was aware that Bochy managed the Cards in the 2011 series vs the Rangers?

I think they just signed Alvarez. I think he is up after 28. Surprising that Crane is cheap. He didn't go cheap when he was trying to snake the Rangers from Nolan and Co.
