Yep.

I'd hire Saleh a million times out of a million over Moore and I'm not even a big fan of Saleh as a HC. But I'd at least assume our defense would be solid and we could work from there. Give Dak a real RB and another weapon in the passing game and you might have something.
With a legit offensive coordinator I think Saleh could be good here. I'm with you on that. He sort of has the ready made weapons on offense. He doesn't have to develop a QB or just to put pieces together on offense. He just needs someone that can call plays well, and probably a good O-line coach to develop that scheme better.

Anyway, I also agree that I don't think it's a legit interview. More of a check the Rooney rules off the list and then be open to hire the coach Jerry feels can be his new best friend.

Yeah, I don't understand why Saleh has such a big following. And I don't mean just as a DC.

Pete Carroll with Saleh. Yes please but with a decent OC.
Pete Carroll makes me uncomfortable with the way he ran such a loose ship in Seattle. Could you imagine that atmosphere in Dallas? It might work in Seattle but with Jerry and the Cowboys I think it would be a total disaster.

Seriously, I think Carroll would be about the best guy we could hire. Yes he's old, but who cares. He's a young 70-whatever and still has plenty of energy. He was still doing a pretty good job in Seattle when they let him go.

I doubt he'd put up with Jerry's meddling, though. Maybe if he's desperate enough.

Feeling him out to see if he would mentor Witten...

This sort of thing is what really gives me the red ass.

They did the same thing with Garrett and still haven't learned.

You think Witten has potential as a future HC?

Fine. Let him do whatever he needs to do to prove himself.

And if he does that and it aligns with us needing a HC some day? Great. Pretty much what happened with Campbell - he went and paid his dues and earned an opportunity.

But you don't shoehorn a guy because you like him or see something in him and force it. And don't act like it's some divine imperative that he coaches here specifically. He might be a good coach but there are other good coaches who have proven themselves. It's not like it's likely he'll be the second coming of Landry.

Let it play out for God's sake.

That yacht isn't going to fuel itself. Not to mention the staff and maintenance on it. It's probably the same as a coordinators salary.
The annual cost of operating a yacht is between 7-25% of its value.

So, 17.5 to 62.5 mil per year.

You are appealing to a rational, coherent thinker.

We have Jerry.

Witten as a TE coach in a normal environment would be fine, Witten on a staff with Jerry just waiting for an opportunity to make him HC is insane.

Exactly right. It's everything that's wrong with our culture.

It's true what people around the team have said -- this is a family business. It explains the Red Decade of Failure. And Witten is like family to Jerry. Someone, maybe Werder, was saying Jerry loves him even more than Romo. Jerry values loyalty above all and he knows family -- or quasi-family -- will be loyal to him.

Barring some miracle, we really are in end-stage Al Davis territory. Might be time to find a new fall hobby.

And it got no better for Raiders when that version of goof son took over. Their only hope is Tom Brady's input will help.

I hear this sport is very exciting.

I disagree with the personality. I actually think he would be a great motivator and leader. I just think the lack of experience would be way too steep. To jump from highschool to the NFL just seems ludicrous to me. On top of that he hasn't even been coaching highschool that long. He is the type that needs at least an NFL assistant job to get some seasoning and experience around other NFL coaching quality people. And maybe that's the path he is headed. Or hell he seems like he would be a good candidate for a college coaching position.
You're probably right on the motivation aspect. I'm just so depressed with this entire situation that I'm seeing only the negative side haha. Ahh man. This sucks.
