Bleak is the perfect word for it. It's just, bleak.

The other discouraging part is the fan base who will continue to believe Jerry's bullshit and the "next year is our year" mantra. How many years will have to pass before disinterest forces them to change their philosophy?

I think this optimis. is starting to die. I think last offseason had a lot of Cowboys fans down. And another offseason of the same or worse is going to continue to erode the fan base and their optimism. You know the Redskins had a loyal dumbass fan base and they crashed pretty hard. Granted this year has them coming back but they got pretty low in my opinion under Snyder.

Jerry is an idiot if he doesn't see the direction this fan base is heading under the shit he is pulling.

What's even scarier is the statement that Jerry is doing this on his own
I was thinking earlier, not that we've heard from any of the Joneses lately, but not a word from or even rumors about Stephen. I had the strong feeling Mike was his hire. With the insane Lance, Mingo, and Zeke additions, I almost wonder if Jerry hasn't decided he's taking back control of this thing.

Which is of course a diasater.

I'm not even sure who Jerry would ask for help or advice? I don't know that McClay has ever had input on coaching decisions. All of our coaches contracts are up so nothing to talk to them about.

I guess he could ask Jimmy's advice?

Yeah, it's just a clueless fucking bozo family that doesn't care about winning operating a football team like a clueless fucking bozo family that doesn't care about winning would.

The chickens have come home to roost.

I'm gonna enjoy the racial firestorm when an inexperienced white guy gets to coach a crown jewel franchise like the Cowboys.

At least with Campo, yes the team was in free fall, but at least you could look forward to a time when they moved on and found a real coach. It wasn't completely hopeless.
Dave Campo was not a good head coach. But I will say this. That dude was given absolutely no chance. His teams were complete trash. But one thing about those years always stuck out. His teams, for as bad as they were, always played hard. And that is why I will always say that he was a better HC than Jason Garrett. Garrett had infinitely better talent on his teams, yet always seemed to find his way to 8-8. Sure, the talent would rise and they'd throw out a decent season. But fail when it mattered. Yeah, his 8 wins were better than Campo's 5 wins on the surface. But if you really look at those records and teams... The talent divide on those teams was immense. Campo got more out of his teams than Jason Garrett did with his.

And I'll apologize in advance if I've just unleashed the beast.

As crazy as it sounds I’d roll the dice on Witten before goofy fucking Moore or some of the other guys you know Jerry might hire. I can’t believe I’m saying that. At least the guy had some competitive fire to him. :shrug
Witten is a natural coach and honestly I think he could coach in the NFL one day.

But at this point in his career, who would he hire for his staff? The guy coaches at a private high school called Liberty Christian School.

That would be my biggest concern with Witten. I to think he'll make a good coach someday. He just seems to have the demeanor for it. And I think he'd have the drive to succeed. But with zero coaching experience in the NFL, where are his coordinators coming from? I doubt experienced or up and coming coordinators would be interested in the job. He'd probably have to pick from guys at the end of the trail, or ones just happy to have a job because of their shoddy track record. At least for the first few years. And that could make it extra tough just starting out. Especially when you consider the no experience part.

He would probably have to pick through guys he played with or who coached around the Cowboys/Raiders when he was there. Eberflus for example was a coach here during his tenure.

He doesn't have to worry about it, Jerry will take care of that for him. :tippytoe

If he is actually thinking about retiring then it's hard to imagine that he would be a HC candidate.
And we get the 3rd DC in 3 years, meaning the first half of next year is our adjustment/suck phase.

Awesome.
