This is the real killer quote if he actually said it:

Over the offseason, Go Long noted that head coach Mike McCarthy was growing “fed up” in Big D. As this 2024 season careened off the rails, I reached back out to a source for more on why specifically McCarthy was growing so frustrated and this exact cafeteria scene was referenced. Distractions all around him, this person says McCarthy turned toward one of his co-workers and said he never would’ve taken the job if he knew it’d be like this.
Makes you wonder if going into his last year without an extension was his idea, and not Jerry’s. And Jerry only spun it like that to try and save face.

Stephen bringing in reinforcements. I wonder if the only reason why they are so hot for shot is because he will take the lowest amount? I have to say that I think that is the exact reason.

It just reeks of the organization unsuccessfully trying to lowball their candidates.
I can see that with Moore because he's actually got interest from other teams, but do you really think it's possible to lowball Schottenheimer?

Not a single team outside of Dallas wants to make him their HC, so it's not like he has a market to base his demands on.

Hell, he's in no position to even make any demands.

I know the Cowboys have become cheap fucks, but do you really think that money is the reason that Schottenheimer wouldn't work out?

How the fuck does it seem that Jerry has the sane voice in this? Well at least for looking at options.

:lol

I don't know why but I found this funny.

One cheap dumbass isn't enough! He's calling on more of it to get the job done.

Yeah, it's money and the fact that he's exactly the sort of puppet they want.

We're living in crazy times where we actually WANT crazy Jerry to come back.

The only thing that saves us from the absolute worst case scenario is for Jerry to go back to being wildcat Jerry who overrules everyone and does whatever crazy shit he wants to do in that moment.

That's what's we need him to do now if we don't want literally the worst HC in the NFL in 2025.

Yes. If he turned down Buffalo a decade ago (when Buffalo was still a big mess), why wouldn't he turn us down? He's likely in a position to be able to afford to be picky about where he works if he wants.

That's not to say he'd demand top dollar, but I'm not sure he'd be willing to do that much work for $7.50 an hour plus incentives.

Yeah but that was a decade ago and how many HC offers has he received since then?

None.

Again, I'm not saying there's no way this is the reason that it falls apart, but it's just hard for me to believe that a guy who after all these years hasn't gotten that opportunity, and doesn't appear to be getting that opportunity any time soon, would be putting his foot down over money.

I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Back then he probably thought he would have more opportunities. 15 years later no one else has come calling. Big difference. At his age this would be his last chance to be an NFL head coach.

Big difference in my opinion. I don't think it's about money. We'll it is, but I don't think they have talked contract with him. They know he is the cheapest option.

BS won't even get a coordinator position if we don't hire him. The dude may be on the streets. At best he is probably getting a low paid quality control position somewhere.

Exactly my point, and that's why I find it hard to believe that he would haggle over money at this point.

That's what this whole thing feels like. A bunch of spoiled kids wanting to make sure daddy doesn't blow the inheritance before he dies. I can't stand people like that.
Which is why I'm hoping that they sell the team after Jerry is gone.

They don't care about the brand or the limelight that comes with it like Jerry does. They're just in it for the money.

So if they receive an astronomical offer where they all come out fat? I can see them selling the team.

Fans: But they have more than enough money to pay an elite coach $10M per and still be rich as fuck.

Jerry: Ah, but not as rich.
