Serious as a heart attack. Please tell me you're lying about that 2nd part.

They aren't, but aren't those the 2 he was begging for instead of dumping a lot of money into Carr 2 offseason's ago? While Schmitty is singing the praises of Porter and Marshall, he failed to note they are good and they are not available.
Porter was for sure and he was dogshit in Oakland last year. They aren't, but aren't those the 2 he was begging for instead of dumping a lot of money into Carr 2 offseason's ago?
Without getting into the crazy specifics of Richard Marshall and Tracy Porter being good starters, I would say that a healthy Claiborne and Scandrick would be perfectly fine as a starting corner combo. If you're just looking for a nickle corner that should be easy to find. Just go and sign a veteran that shakes loose. A bunch did this off season.No. We don't fucking need a first rounder.
We need Tracy Porter or Richard Marshall on a short term deal. You are fine with guys like that; they haven't been any worse than Carr has. It's horrifying that we continue to entertain the idea of spending premium resources on that position when it is so depedent on other positions moreso than any other.
The DL is infinitely more important. Until the DL is an elite unit, it is completely worthless to spend early picks or big FA contracts on CBs. The only exception would be picks in the late first or second where the DB is far and away the BPA.
Of course, Marshall just signed like yesterday or today with San Diego. While Schmitty is singing the praises of Porter and Marshall, he failed to note they are good and they are not available.
Since when do you even need coaches to sign a free agent? He apparently is scheduled to visit next week.
Our coaches are currently out of town.
So in other words.... I'm right. If you're just looking for a nickle corner that should be easy to find. Just go and sign a veteran that shakes loose. A bunch did this off season.
You take the D-line stuff to such an extreme that you make me want to disagree with you just for the sake of disagreeing with you but if it were up to me I'd load up on D-lineman and a stud safety or two. Of course the D-lineman I'd load up on would be mostly talented pass rushers. Run stopping is important but give me play makers any day.
It's like a kid doing math who shows his work and it is all wrong but somehow randomly arrives at the correct conclusion. So in other words.... I'm right.
Tracy Porter signed with Redskins right? No. We don't fucking need a first rounder.

The work is the conclusion.... load up on the DL, just like you said. It's like a kid doing math who shows his work and it is all wrong but somehow randomly arrives at the correct conclusion.
That's way overstating it.Until the DL is an elite unit, it is completely worthless to spend early picks or big FA contracts on CBs. The only exception would be picks in the late first or second where the DB is far and away the BPA.
Sure, this applies at CB too.Priority 1: Bums. Do not field bums at any position on your football team. Bums get exploited to the detriment of everyone else. Always.
Yes, but the better arrangement is competence in the secondary and better players on the DL. Unless you have found another Deion Sanders. You need competence at every position before excellence at one position can make a difference. We've seen this for years in Dallas. In 2011 a star defensive lineman in Ware could make almost no difference when the cornerbacks failed to perform allowing Eli Manning to career highs every time he faced Dallas. With bums on the field Ware could have six sacks in a game and it wouldn't matter.
Serious as a heart attack.
We need a stud safety too though. If we don't fix safety our defense will be just as sunk as it ever has been. It really sucks to a have a pass rush wasted because the QB can just step back and immediately fling the ball because he knows the safety on the other side is so incompetent that the WR will just win every jump ball. The work is the conclusion.... load up on the DL, just like you said.
Well the QB can do that because we have guys who can't play, as Ravi said.We need a stud safety too though. If we don't fix safety our defense will be just as sunk as it ever has been. We haven't been able to find a safety that can even play on an average level for a very long time. Church is average to below average and it took us an awful long time to find him. Although according to Dallas we are happy with our safeties so we probably won't address the position at all.Heath is the one who gets abused.
Though I agree a stud centerfielder FS would be something worth having.
Well it takes us forever because we don't try. We invest fourth round picks not on big school players, but rather small school projects. Or we sift through UDFAs.We haven't been able to find a safety that can even play on an average level for a very long time. Church is average to below average and it took us an awful long time to find him. Although according to Dallas we are happy with our safeties so we probably won't address the position at all.
The DL helps you more over the course of a season, but big games are won by talent independent of position. You need playmakers at every level of defense. Start me out with a competent defense with studs distributed 1DL 1LB 1DB.Yes, but the better arrangement is competence in the secondary and better players on the DL. Unless you have found another Deion Sanders.
James Laurinaitis, Charles Johnson, and Greg Hardy don't count? The DL helps you more over the course of a season, but big games are won by talent independent of position. You need playmakers at every level of defense. Start me out with a competent defense with studs distributed 1DL 1LB 1DB.
3DL 0LB 0DB (2012 Rams), 0DL 3LB 0DB (2012 Carolina), or 0DL 0LB 3DB (1997 Dallas) all suck--each one way too easy to scheme against and burn. 2DL and 1DB makes you Philadelphia. 2DL 1LB 0DB might get you to 10-6, but you'll lose vs every elite QB you face.
An even distribution is the way to go. Now when you add those 4th, 5th, and 6th playmakers it can be at any level and solely depends on the talent of the guy you can get.
3 tiers of defense have evolved for a reason and each is critical to success.
