What's the alternative? Just take another hit on the hash pipe and operate in some kind of never-never land? I mean, fantasizing about some college coach who, as you said, has no connection or no apparent interest in coaching the Cowboys?

Is the message board worth that level of delusion -- or desperation?
I said maybe he hasnt been asked about this job. As in I dont know if he has or hasnt.

Most of us have been here for a lot longer than the 2017 join date and have already done the Jerry thing long before you came. I mean we could just create macros to say the same thing on every topic. WE GET IT. Its just not happening so we discuss things here regardless of Jerry.

we have decided to support the team, while we wait for Jerry's demise. Stephen is a chip off the Jerry block, so there's that to be excited about.

You are sounding very much like a fella who called himself Townsend and wore out his welcome with his diatribes.

The only way Jones moves on from this fop is if the team gives up.
It was buried in that article someone posted about Redskin coaching candidates, but apparently they had an extension ready for Garrett to sign, then the Rams playoff game happened and they tore it up. That would seem to be a pretty good sign that Red Turd probably has NFC Championship game or toast writing on the wall to me.

I think a really horrendous showing Sunday night might be it for him.

I'm not buying it, the NFL is different game & OU gets the best talent in the country year in & out, that ain't happening with the Cowboys plus whatever he does bring to the table will be hamstrung by jeri & spawn (true for any new coach)
I don't think OU gets the best talent in the country. Alabama, Clemson, Georgia and Ohio State all get better talent that OU does, especially defensively.

He took two transfer QB's and turned them into Heisman trophy winners. A 3rd (in 3 years) has a decent shot at it. The dude can coach QB's and offense. If the team is going to hitch their wagon to Prescott long term it's paramount that they find a coach that can maximize his talent.

That's a damn good question.
No it isn't.

Garrett as HC and it's not even close.

Jerry would never, ever be an executive anywhere else.

The league, on the other hand, loves to recycle head coaches. Fucking Rich Kotite got a second HC job.

IDGAS.

His ass playing damn near 90 percent of the snaps again is part of the issue.
Also, ironically, a FG would have won the game. Specifically, the one they passed up on fourth down inside the ten, and then the Jets came back with a 90 yard TD the next play.

Swap out those two plays and we win.

[h=1]If Jerry feels urgency, he isn’t showing it[/h] 17 hours ago
by Matt Mosley

Written by Matt Mosley
The NFC team coming off a Super Bowl appearance made a bold move this week after three consecutive losses. The Dallas Cowboys, also losers of three straight, trotted out their owner/general manager Jerry Jones to once again say his head coach Jason Garrett would be a hot commodity on the open market. (Cue laugh track)

Cowboys fans would love to see Garrett hit the open market. He’s had his moments since becoming the full-time head coach prior to the 2011 season, but they aren’t memorable enough to overcome this latest stretch/stench. The Cowboys’ season is on the verge of collapse, and there are no daring trades on the horizon this time. Amari Cooper gave the Cowboys a shot in the arm last season, but this year’s team has to look within. And that doesn’t seem to be working at the moment. Injuries to both starting offensive tackles and a No. 1 receiver aren’t an adequate excuse. The Carolina Panthers lost their franchise quarterback…and they’ve won every game since with a guy who couldn’t keep the starting gig at Texas A&M, Kyle Allen.

The Los Angeles Rams felt their season slipping away after a demoralizing loss to San Francisco, so they sent two first-round picks to Jacksonville for cornerback Jalen Ramsey. The Rams may be fatally flawed due to an injured star running back and a backsliding franchise quarterback. But they aren’t going down without a fight. You have to admire how Rams GM Les Snead keeps going for broke every season, even though he might be undermining the team’s long-term efforts. Also, Snead has amazing hair.

That’s something that can’t be said about Jerry after he turned 77 last Sunday. This man talks about having a sense of urgency, but the Cowboys didn’t even make a play for Ramsey. And make no mistake, this team is hurting at both cornerback and safety. The Cowboys refuse to spend a premium pick on a safety, in part because of their curious devotion to Jeff Heath, who should not be starting in this league. He offered poor Chido Awuzie no help when Robby Anderson blew past him for a 92-yard touchdown last Sunday to make it 14-3, Jets.

The Cowboys are so frustrating right now that some fans of the team are openly rooting for a lopsided loss to the Eagles. There’s a growing belief four consecutive losses might cause Jones to throw Garrett overboard heading into the bye week. To be clear, no one from the organization has told me it’s a possibility. But I’ve been around Jerry long enough to know he’s capable of anything when he’s truly angry. Of course, there’s no clear-cut interim head coach on this staff. Rod Marinelli was a horrible head coach for the Detroit Lions. Kris Richard’s defensive unit is currently stinking up the joint, and Kellen Moore is calling plays for the first time in his career.

The best candidate for interim head coach is currently the Cowboys’ starting tight end. He would bring the fire on the sideline that’s rarely seen from Garrett. I believe Jason Witten wants to coach at either the college or NFL level at some point. Maybe his time is coming sooner than we thought. It’s not like he’s going to take another crack at the TV booth.

Witten would never lobby for this job out of respect for Garrett, but he’ll be ready for the call no matter when it happens. If Jones has had enough of Garrett after Sunday’s game, Richard would likely be the choice to guide the Cowboys the rest to the season. After that, all bets are off.

We knew Garrett was on the hot seat this season. But no one knew it would heat up this quickly. He may be coaching for his job Sunday night.

Best of luck to a swell fella.

You all are right. My flogging the Jerry dead horse is just as pointless as fantasizing about the next coach, the next draft pick, the next free agent.

Jerry won't sell the team tomorrow. He may well live for another 10 - 12 years, maybe longer. And after he's dead his trailer-park family is next in line.

So please pardon my intrusion. I've noticed some other posters who have just abdicated, given up. Maybe that's what I should do, and just shut up about Jerry.

I almost hope Dallas loses 48-0 so Garrett is fired Monday, plus I can go to bed early.
I'll go to bed early anyway, but Amen to a lopsided score in favor of the human waste Eagles. I would love to see Jerry and RHG backed into a corner.

By top, I didn't mean 1st place but they're consistently in the top 5-10 in the country and regardless of where they actually land, the point is Dallas will never have a talent advantage over 95% of the league as OU does (at least on paper) every year in the NCAA

I'm still dubious of those 2 QBs and believe they're evaluations get overstated due to the stacked talent OU gets year in and out

same goes for the coach but sure bring him in, it'll be fun for a while until we realize he's not the miracle worker people think he is gonna be not to mention the never-ending albatross jeri and spawn will be to any coaches chances of success

I think the team should change the name to the Dallas Deckchairs
