I'm wondering if this process really intimidates Jerry. He hasn't hired a HC in 10 years. He's 77 years old. Besides, his coaching hires have all been mediocre or awful.

How many coaching hires does he have left? What if this hire is as big a fiasco as most of the others? I guess he doesn't mind looking appearing clueless or bumbling or senile, but there's got to be a limit to that.

I think Stephen is going to have a big say in this next hire. I don't think they have any interest in another 3 year coach.

Wouldn't surprise me. Jerry doesn't have a lot of shots left.

Why would you fire an assistant and then rehire them if the new coach wants them? You should hold off on anything until the new coach is hired.
Agreed. I hate when Jerry forces coaches on a HC just as much as the next guy. But this is the right way to go. Retain them until the new HC has a chance to make his own decision.

I doubt that's even an option. If you want the job, they're part of the deal.
I didn't say that was an option, or how I think it will play out. Only that's the way it should be.

If either one of them is on the staff next year, we'll know who won the power struggle. Someone like Roman or Riley is not gonna keep Moore as OC minus some serious arm twisting.

And being a head coach is totally different. Who would he bring with him to install the offense? Who is he bringing as a DC?

Some guys are brilliant football minds but can't handle the step up from coordinator to HC.

He has never been a head coach on any level.
You could ask the same question of basically any coordinator in the league who is in line to be a HC soon, that wouldn't stop me from giving Roman a shot after he's clearly proven himself to be a unique offensive mind.

Hell, he could pull a McVay and basically just run the offense as long as he brings in an established DC.

I still don't believe this. Like I said before... Jerry is an attention whore. He believes his news deserves more press than others, and is above announcing things at the same time as other teams.

It's why we always see Cowboys news during the Super Bowl week. Right before the draft. During the pro bowl. Etc...

And that is why he will wait until after the rush of black monday has passed. THEN he'll have his press conference.
Yep. The determination has been made. It’s just a matter of how and when Jones will deliver the news. Garrett is out as HC. Maybe they have made a place for him in the organization and maybe not but the season itself dictated the fate of Garrett.

What if he isn't OC? Or some guys get fired after the new coach comes in?

My hope is maybe he could pluck some assistants off the Ravens staff. If we got him.

I think there is something to this.

You can’t bring him back as coach though. It would mean Jones has officially lost it and that Stephen is no better. But I’m telling you that I have no doubt Jerry is contemplating at least whether there is some other role for Garrett.
I like Kitna a lot, and I think he should stay, but that isn’t, or at least it shouldn’t be up to Jerry fucking Jones.

Who does this shit? “Hey, you wanna be the next head coach here, bubba? Mmkay, I alreadyhave some of your assistants hired, you are going to be okay with that, right?”.

It’s such a backward approach. I understand Kitna may be good for Dak, he may be doing an A-1 fantastic job, but anyone stepping into Jason’s job should be able to determine if he wants to retain anyone from the previous staff. It shouldn’t be a stipulation of taking the job.

Has anyone told Jerry he’s a fucking idiot to his face?

I am very discouraged by it. I might be able to handle Garrett sticking around in a front office capacity but I cannot abide Jerry forcing assistants on the next coach again. I'm just about done with this madness. I refuse to be emotionally invested in a product whose quality is secondary to the owner's vanity, ego, and stubbornness to do anything conventionally. This whole ordeal has made me sick to my stomach.

If this were the WWF, Garrett is getting reinvented from robot-to-badass. Stepping up to the podium dressed in all black, all he says is ‘abracadabra, bitches’ and piledrives Colinshaw or Jane Slater and exits.
