We will win. Our D will not be as bad as everyone thinks. Everybody from the experts to the casual fans are saying this could be the worst defense ever. That's a bit much. I know it was real bad last year, but we were pulling guys off the street and playing them immediately.
Expectations are at an all-time low for this defense. Sure we lost Ware and Lee, but they were both banged up and invisible for much of the season. Marinelli will shock all. They just have to be average to be a huge success. Then Romo and co. just have to light up the scoreboard.
Many will be surprised by this season.
Ha, now if I can only believe all of that.
I had the same line of thought about the defense for most of the offseason, even after Lee went down, but then Lawrence went down for half the year, Scandrick got suspended for 4 games and various other ailments occurred along the way with guys like McClain and Melton not playing a snap in the preseason.
I still think the defense has a chance to be better than the worst in the league but that is mostly just based off sheer odds, I can't see any way this defense is any better than low to mid 20's and even for that to happen alot of things have to go our way.
If we are generally injury-free and have continuity along all 3 levels of the defense we will definitely be better than last year just because of how many guys we were shifting in and out of the lineup, generally just days after signing them off the street, but that's alot to ask. And like I said, even if that happens I don't expect anything better than a defense that ranks in the low to mid 20's.
