I went on one cruise with a girlfriend and I'll never do that again. It wasn't jammed like that or trashy, but neither of us liked being stuck on the boat for days, and you can't exactly go anywhere.

RC and Norwegian are where people should start. If they are too expensive for you, do not settle for a garbage experience.

I went on one cruise with a girlfriend and I'll never do that again. It wasn't jammed like that or trashy, but neither of us liked being stuck on the boat for days, and you can't exactly go anywhere.

I've only been on one cruise myself. My wife and I went on a Carnival cruise in 2019 and we enjoyed it.

The only time it was crowded like in that video was at the very beginning of the cruise they gathered everyone outside by the pool, lsimilar to in the video, just to give everyone a rundown of the activities and introduce key crew members. Other than that one setting we always had plenty of space and privacy to do whatever.

I think it also depends on when you go and what type of ship you take. We went in October with a large group of friends to celebrate the military retirement of a couple of people within the group, and they chose one of Carnival's better ships for the event.

Yeah, you want to make sure you have a chance to dock and visit new places.

Great thing is you can visit a new city or island each day without having to pack and unpack (I HATE that).

Downside is without an overnight port you are stuck with the nightlife on the ship, which is very hit or miss depending on the kind of crowd you have. Still had great times playing poker, attending late night stand-up, hitting the various whiskey bars (without having to drive home), and of course the shows can be awesome.

Get a drinks package for sure (Norwegian usually includes a drink package offer in the 'base' price).
