We need to be more proactive about aquiring extra picks even if it means missing out on "our guy," once in a while. If it's not Micah Parsons or CD Lamb then we shouldn't care about missing out now and then. And Mazi and Booker and Guyton are just not Parsons or Lamb and everyone knew it on the day of their respective draftings.
Exactly. Go back to the Mazi pick... They had an offer to trade back, but Jerry says he just couldn't live with himself if they missed out on him or Bergeron. Really? How did that work out?

I gotta be honest.

I'd still call Amari Cooper and see if he wants a 1 year deal. Our WR depth is that fucking bad.

We won't though, because we would be unwilling to part with Turpin due to his return ability, Mingo because we spent a fourth on him, or Tolbert because we spent a third on him.

Lamb
Pickens
Cooper
Tolbert
Mingo
Turpin

Flournoy and Brooks compete for practice squad spots, but we might lose one or both, and they'd be unwilling to do that too.

A little higher than I would have liked, considering the possibility of being just a one year rental. But if this guy can keep his head on straight, he's a damn good WR. If he does behave and has a good season, somebody will pay the price for him. Even if it isn't us. 24-25 year old talented, fast, tall WRs don't show up in FA very often. He'll find a buyer and we'll get a good comp pick.

In an ideal world we could keep him and have a few years with Pickens and Lamb together in their primes. Sort of like the Eagles paying both their starting receivers. But I doubt the Cowboys will do that. But we will see. I'm ok giving up a third for a guy who starts here for 4 years. But a one year rental always smarts.

Great. ESPN reporting Tomlin had enough with this fucktard. Shows up for games late and other shit.
He was fined 90k by the league last year and like 200k the year before.

But Jerry can straighten him out, I'm sure of it.

That's certainly not good but they are over a barrel. And we don't have an established coach that he'll respect either.
Yeah but we have a QB who is actually a great leader. Name me a single leader on that Pitt offense?

This is like Dez, it can be done if you have the right players around him.

Just wait on it.

How is Pickens going to get a huge deal playing on the other side from CeeDee? There are only so many yards to go around. It's not like Dak is Dan Fouts anyway. And what happened to running the ball more?

This is peak Jerry Jones. We needed a high character player who would be content as a #2 opposite CeeDee. We got the shiny object diametrical opposite of that.
Look at 2023. Dak had 4500+ yds and led NFL in TD passes with 36. Sure CeeDee had 1700 of those yards and Ferguson 700+, but Pickens is better than Cooks and Tolbert and Gallup, etc. He's pretty much going to get most of the catches / yards those 3 got that year. They were over 100 catches, over 1300 yards and 12 TD's. Not saying Pickens will put up those numbers, but no reason he can't put up 75-1100-8.

Maybe

CeeDee = Cowboy
Dak = Joker
Pickens = Pyle

One thing is for sure, Turd gonna see a lot of single coverage. Should be a great year for him if he’s actually any good.

And sadly at that price we are probably out, we don't like having two good WRs being paid at the same time.

But then we will definitely get a solid comp pick.

The other sad thing is, if we'd just get a little more creative, like... maybe we should have traded down in the draft and gotten an extra third next year and still been able to draft Booker 3-4 picks later....

Because giving up this pick isn't so bad if you are getting it back a year later... but what will sting is, come the 2026 draft not having a third at all.

If you had an extra third and you were constantly rolling over draft picks, then deferring one of your extra thirds from 2026 to 2027 would be basically meaningless. It would be free asset management.

But now we will be sitting there in 2026 without a third. That will sting.

I agree, I would've much rather moved down 5ish slots and even if Booker was gone we could've gotten Zabel or Harmon, but that discounts how they stacked their specific board where they supposedly had Booker in their top 10.

But yea, if they had an inkling they were going to make a move like this you'd think they would've been a bit more aggressive in trying to add picks somewhere along the line.

Pretty bad that he could stick with head cases like Bell and Brown at least until their contracts were up but he shipped this guy out as quickly as he could.
He didn't, he shipped him out on a contract year with a team that has zero chance at a Superbowl.

He had no problem dealing with him the last 3 years while starting him the whole time.

The whole issue comes down to how well somebody somewhere in the organization “knows” the player’s character. He has demonstrated some dumb behavior on the field that could cost a game just as much as his ability.

Yep. Gotta find out what our draft grade was on him.

I wouldn't exactly say that.
