First of all, Dorsett is pretty god damn mediocre. At that point I'd rather save the money and grab a guy in the draft.
Huh?ETA: McCoy and Cooper.
"Edited to add" McCoy and Cooper to the list I made of players we could afford, they are included now but I originally forgot to include them because by some miracle we actually signed them.Huh?
I'm blanking who was the second major weapon on offense. Cobb and ....Instead, we've weakened our strength (offense, lost two major weapons) and weakened our weaknesses (lost our best cover corner and best pass rusher), plus we haven't remotely addressed our most glaring weakness (run defense).

Not any better than Antwaun Woods who is paid half that. [/Goof Son]Danny Shelton ($4 million a year) and Andrew Billings ($3.5 million one year) as well.
Head scratchers.
Jarwin replaces Witten not SchultzWitten had 63 catches last year. Like him or not that's a major weapon that hasn't been replaced. Between Witten and Cobb they've lost 118 receptions. That's a huge amount to replace especially when the next men up are dalton schultz and cedric wilson.
Yeah I don't think I'd refer to Witten as a weapon. I mean he is a NFL player who started for us last year. But definitely not what I would call a weapon.Witten had 63 catches last year. Jarwin is the replacement for Witten, and I think he's more than capable of 63 catches. Not to mention a significantly higher YPC than Witt.Witten had 63 catches last year. We already had Jarwin and he already got a lot of snaps.Jarwin replaces Witten not Schultz
Again, Jarwin was here last year.Jarwin is the replacement for Witten, and I think he's more than capable of 63 catches. Not to mention a significantly higher YPC than Witt.
You're kidding yourself if you think 60+ catches aren't important to replace.Yeah I don't think I'd refer to Witten as a weapon. I mean he is a NFL player who started for us last year. But definitely not what I would call a weapon.
Weapon implies someone who threatens a defense. I don't think Witten threatened anybody.
and he was effectively cock blocked by an old man who had no business being on the field. And i feel confident we can replace Cobb's numbers.Again, Jarwin was here last year.
You're missing the point.and he was effectively cock blocked by an old man who had no business being on the field
why do you say he needs 90 catches? 63 is not 90..You're missing the point.
Do you think he's getting an all pro number of catches like 90 or more? Because that's what it would take for JARWIN to replace witten's numbers.
You guys are being really obtuse here.
It's not about playing in games. It's your role in the offense. Jarwin had a grand total of 41 targets last year. That's a pretty low number because he was down the list on the progression on most plays. Witten on the other hand had 83 targets. He had a much higher number of balls thrown his direction because of his role on offense.Again, Jarwin was here last year.
You don't ever need to replace catches. You need to replace yards. When you average 8 yards a catch it's not that difficult to replace. You can replace those yards with far fewer catches because Witten did so little catching those passes. You're kidding yourself if you think 60+ catches aren't important to replace.
Again, REGARDLESS OF WHAT YOU THINK OF WITTEN, that production has to be replaced. You're focusing on witten's quality, but that is very far away from the point.
