So what is their limit, 6 million a year?

Sure seems that way.

Cheap bastards.

Well there is one guy in particular who is blowing this thread up with unreasonability and despite what many might have assumed, it's not me.
It's like you're posting against a younger version of yourself. :lol

A trip down memory lane to simpler times:

I remember when the Cowboys traded for Joey Galloway in 2000. I was on the ESPN message boards at the time, and only 17 years old (Jeez.... I’ve been around some of you guys on the internet for the majority of my life at this point).

The price was steep at two firsts, but at the time I was still deeply invested in Aikman/Emmitt and Jerry Jones, and there is just nothing quite like the excitement and euphoria that that trade brought me. I was sure they had just added a total stud who was gonna put up Pro Bowl numbers for years with Aikman. I poured through page after page on the message boards of confirmation bias as we all exulted in such a bold move to land a dynamic WR who would be around for a long time.

Man, there just are no moves to be made that give me those feelings anymore. I’m a jaded old asshole now.
We did both Galloway and ourselves ugly, fucked both his career and the Cowboys future in one move.

Left Galloway to a broken down Aikman, a minute of ancient Randall Cunningham, Anthony Wright, Clint Stoerner, Ryan Fucking Leaf, Quincy, Hutchinson, Hennings... pathetic. Meanwhile we lost two top 15 picks.

By the time Galloway’s time in Dallas was done, Parcells didn’t want a guy who didn’t block and more importantly forced a big play offense on a team that lacked a big play QB.

So Bill made Galloway into a decoy.

Gruden in Tampa instantly utilized Galloway’s potential but himself was cursed with Chris Simms at QB. Galloway’s whole career would be reduced to memories of a two-year window with Warren Moon.

If only Galloway could have lasted until Romo matured and Witten blossomed.

Okay, this is rare for this board, but I'm dropping a hammer. Stop this bullshit squabbling. It's one thing to disagree with each other (we do that a lot), but it's an entirely different thing to go at each others throats. I won't tolerate this shit anymore. Stop it. I haven't even read this whole thread and I already know this is out of fucking hand. Like I said, stop it. You can disagree without being dickheads to each other. I suggest you disagree without being dickheads to each other, or we just might be down one or more dickheads on this board. I am not pointing this post at any one poster in particular. It's a general post reacting to some of the pointed and aggressive posts in this thread. Jesus Christ, just fucking stop it.

Please just don't make us start moderating like the god damn idiot mods at the Zone.
30,000 rounds. First time I’ve seen you pull a trigger.

Yeah I mean I like the signing but we still need another DT desperately. He is a good player. I do get a little sick of all the one year deals Dallas signs guys to in free agency. All these guys end up bolting like Cobb and Quinn after a good year here.

So sure I like Clinton-Dix but good year or bad year he probably isn't back next year. Then we are all worried about safety again.
This signing is important because it means we don’t have to reach in the draft for a safety and can field a starting secondary day one.

Obviously let’s more to do in the front seven, but this was absolutely necessary

One thing I will definitely criticize Parcells for was when he gave away Galloway for Keyshawn Johnson. Gruden and Johnson were done with one another and Tampa would have flat out cut him eventually. There was no need to give up your speed deep threat receiver for 'Chariots of Fire' Johnson. The Cowboys could have had both.

Personally I'm not upset about passing on some of these older guys on a one year deal. But watching teams sign Reader and Pierce at a price we could have matched just blows my mind. Both are young and would have been a perfect fix for an absolute weakness.

Ah, but every dollar he gives to those guys is one less dollar he can leave to Spaulding.

Danny Shelton ($4 million a year) and Andrew Billings ($3.5 million one year) as well.

Head scratchers.

Parcells didn’t know what to do with a pure weapon like Galloway who was not a blocker— with the god awful QBing he knew he had.

I didn’t get that since Galloway fully participated in special teams as a solid punt returner. He even fielded kickoffs for a while.

Creative offensive minds could have found ways to get a burner like Galloway the ball. Parcells kept him as a decoy only. Such a lazy move.

Gruden, with the same limited QB, got Galloway the ball and used him to break open the offense. Galloway was so frustrated as he would break wide open all the time and all those shitbird QBs just couldn’t throw it to him.
